I have Jubilee Orpingtons. All of my chicks, with the exception of one, have chipmunk stripes! I know I have purebred Jubilee Orpingtons. They came from top breeders in the US.

    My chicks are cold.

Hi Emerald, I also have small chicks out in a brooder. I am using a heat pad and also heat lamp shields with regular light bulbs to avoid fire. The heat pad can be picked up at tractor supply! They are made for chickens/chicks and heat to 100°

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

this is the best picture I could get, color is not good on my phone camera! But this is where it layed immediately after hatch, I checked umbilical area and don't see anything new. I don't think it came from there, to be honest it appears to come from the belly feathers. Like it was in the egg...

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

It's coming from the feathers, belly area but it is the same color..so pooped in the egg before hatch maybe? Took about 3 1/2 days after initial egg pip to hatch also. I don't see anything wrong in the umbilical area as far as draining other than the blood. Also the umbilical cord was completely...

day-old chick with "curled feet" (last attempt before culling... )

Ok, so I tried the pipe cleaner and it had fallen off overnight, apparently I didn't have it taped well :/ my husband suggested that I try a paper clip against the hock, which actually worked well on one foot/leg. On the other side, not so well! I made a new shoe with the pipe cleaner and used a...

He probably will not stay, they can jump very high! I have to cover my pen to keep them in, it's 6ft tall. Not to mention he can fly. I hope he stays with you, they are beautiful and comical to watch!

    Building my coop, newbie.

My chicken coop! Added windows, and roof. This is approximately 14ft x 8ft and will comfortably house about 15 chickens with my peafowl. It was originally built for chickens, peafowl were added much later. I allow my chickens to free range is why you only see one. This only took about 2 days to...
