Ok I'm joining in. Today was lockdown. At day 10 I removed 4 clear and 2 quitters. Today I removed 4 quitters and 17 went into lockdown. This will (hopefully) be my most successful hatch!
I think so too. I was just hoping for maybe a clue as to what. I'm hatching out eggs and I have no clue what he is. All the babies have been black like him though.
Almost 2 hours after my post. I could see it was struggling to breath. I did a little at a time and wrapped in a wet paper towel in between. I ended up having to do a complete hatch for it but you can't tell now. The inner membrane was pretty tight to start with so I think it was on its way to...
He was from my daughters classroom hatch. I have no clue where he came from, there were a lot of donations that year (none from me). He is black with gold and green feathers. [/IMG]
I ended up having to assist and she (I'm hoping) is doing great!! That was very stressful even though I've been watching videos and studying hatching long before I even got an incubator. Once they're dried I can put them in with the others!
It pipped late last night. It's 11:16 am here, so just over 12 hours ago. I've been reading about assisted hatches in the learning center and watching videos just in case. This is what it looks like now. It's beak is moving but not making sounds. Should I step in?
They are mixed from my flock. My rooster is from the hatch my daughters school did last spring and I have no clue what he is or which "farm" he came from. Her school nurse provides the eggs for the class rooms and they come from hers and her neighbors flocks. They sent the chicks home with us...
When your husband says no more chicks but you have a hen go broody and you give her 5 eggs. He just rolled his eyes and said "whatever makes you happy". I told him I'm just trying to make her happy!! Haha
So, I am now getting two duck eggs every morning. I only have two runner ducks so that means they are for sure both girls, right? Then why are they trying to mate with each other?? It's making me crazy. Is this normal if they don't have a drake??
I've caught 2 of my RIR pullets on the nest today. I'm hoping that means I have 10 laying hens but the end of the day!! So far the count is 6 chicken eggs (one was a broken soft shell, I think was the first RIRs, so that leaves us with 5) and 1 duck egg.
