Is anyone looking for roosters? I need to rehome them asap. They're 2 years old and very good boys. They're just too loud for my area and I had the neighbors complain to me today. I don't want the town involved. I'm in fairfield.
I had thought that only the little blobs of red or brown are considered meat spots. I just checked Google and sure enough someone else had similar and said meat spot. It's just big so it has me concerned
I was cracking away at eggs to use for baking today and I came upon this little suprise.
It's about the side of a bean and it's not hard but not soft either. I've never seen this before. Has anyone else have experience with this?
I don't think it's frostbite although it does look like that from the pics. Im in southern CT and our winter here has been pretty unusual. This is the first year I haven't heated the coops because our temps haven't gone that low all winter. Good ventilation and all that.
this is a decent picture of my roosters face. I noticed this started in the fall and has stuck around since. He is active, eats and drinks great and has no other symptoms other than this stuff on his comb and wattle. It almost looks like dried mud. He has no problems breathing no discharge from...
No they aren't bearded. They look exactly like a full blooded lav orpington if you didn't see the egg color there's no way to tell they were crossed breed.
Hi all, I got 2 lavender orpington hens last year and I was so excited when they started laying eggs but I got a suprise. They lay green eggs! I'm figuring that they were crossed with an olive Egger or similar. Has anyone had experience with this?
An option to keep him quieter is to make or buy the collar for your rooster. I made one with velcro and it works great. It doesnt harm him and muffles his crow so its no too offensive for neighbors.
The wound has made great progress and it is still healing well with the help of the vetericyn spray. She is drinking ok but not eating much. Ive tried to bribe her with her fav snacks and she just picks at them without much interest. Her poop is watery not much substance to it but i assume thats...
We put her outside for a couple hours yesterday to hopefully make her perk up and we brought her back in and sure enough she had eggs on her again. She got a good bath and i trimmed her feathers all around her butt area. She will be staying inside for awhile longer like you guys suggest. Its...
Tuesday my hen was acting funny so i checked her over and sure enough she had flystrike. Whoa momma that wasn't a pleasant suprise! Shes gotten many baths and and ive tended to the yucky skin with vetericyn spray. I havent seen any bugs at all since Wednesday. My worry was that maybe she had...
My flock got attacked by a dog and I lost 2 hens and it was a good week before they came out. I had to coax them with treats and stay and show them it would be ok and eventually they went back to normal.
Hey you guys! Ours have come from a mixture of places. Agway, tractor supply and my lavendars came from a lady that sells chickens she lives out of state. What do you guys have in Norwalk and Stratford?
