Prolapsed vent AND I found 14 soft-shelled eggs all stuck together

Thanks everybody. I am waiting for my husband to get home and he will cull her. I don't want her to suffer anymore. :( On a less sad note, one of my leghorns laid her first egg today. :)

Prolapsed vent AND I found 14 soft-shelled eggs all stuck together

:( Yep- that's definitely something my husband or someone else will have to do for me. I'm too attached. But I know it's most likely necessary. I appreciate your help.

Prolapsed vent AND I found 14 soft-shelled eggs all stuck together

I've never had to do it. :( But I know my husband has some friends at work who know how. We don't have a vet in the area that treats chickens, but I could maybe check with one anyway if my husband's co-workers can't help. :( :(

Prolapsed vent AND I found 14 soft-shelled eggs all stuck together

I'm afraid it's not fixable either. I haven't seen any poop since I removed her from the flock this morning and I don't think she's eaten anything. She just seems to be chilling right now, but she seems fluffed out some (I can't think of the word). She attempted to run when I went to move her to...

Prolapsed vent AND I found 14 soft-shelled eggs all stuck together

My 16 month old hen has always been kind of weird looking. Her butt always hangs low and she waddles. She also always lays eggs with no shell- but rarely lays at all. So obviously something has been off since she hatched. Anyway, this morning I found 14 soft shelled eggs in the coop. A few were...

    Pullets or Cockrels?!!?

Thank y'all so much! I'm hoping that's all the cockrels. I'm pretty positive about the rest of the flock. Here is a side view of chicken #1 from the first post.

    Pullets or Cockrels?!!?

I have always bought pre-sexed chicks, but this past year we hatched 15 babies. So, I seriously have no idea what sex they are. They are mixed breed- and I lost track of who the mother was, but I'm guessing. The dad was an ameraucana. I *think* out of the 15 that 5 are roos. But I honestly don't...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

Y'all are so funny! I actually enjoy looking at the pics too. I sent them to my son in the Army and he was like "Why are you sending these to me??" lol The girls are doing good. I actually think Caramel (the one with the double eye infection) is blind in one eye. She kept having yellow pus...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

I meant to update a couple days ago... Both chickens eyes are doing SO much better. Caramel had one eye that kept getting more goop in it and she wouldn't open it for me to dr. I had to keep popping out more yellow grossness. But as of today, no goop and her eye looks healthy. I'm so happy they...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

Good news!! Caramel- the one with 2 infections- has one eye showing some AND she's started eating on her own. I can tell her vision is off. She has to turn her head a ton and sometimes her aim is off. But she's eating! She's been eating yogurt and apple sauce, etc. thru a syringe for a week, so...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

I was able to clean out my 2nd chicken's eye. Only one is infected, but I put antibiotic ointment in both. I hope that's ok... It was actually really hard to get out because it wasn't really protruding as much. But anyway, I got it out and cleaned it and put ointment in it. About an hour later I...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

I got the 2nd eye cleaned out too. That one was a lot bigger and more work. It was actually really disgusting... I rinsed out both eyes with saline and put antibiotic ointment in each. I'm hoping in the next few days I will see an eyeball or 2... I'll keep y'all updated. Thank you!

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

Oh! I got one side out with tweezers. I don't see an eyeball out here or in her head, but its all so stretched out I'm assuming it's in there. The other side will be a little more challenging because there's not much yellow sticking out. I hope I'm doing this right...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

Thanks so much for replying. So to clean it do I need to press on it (I'm getting squeamish just typing that) and get that yellow chunk out? I tried earlier this morning and she fought a lot. I guess I need to just suck it up and do it. It doesn't seem soft though, it's rather hard. I guess I'm...

I thought it was fowl pox, now I'm not sure

I thought my 2 buff orpingtons (about 15 weeks old) had fowl pox. And maybe they do, but one has gone from bad to worse. Her eyes are huge, puffy, and sealed. They've been like this 4 days. I've been giving her water and yogurt and whatever else thru a syringe. That works great sometimes and...
