    Broody ate her baby :(

I can't see any other way. Half the shell is there, but no baby anywhere at all. She only had 1 other egg so I took it and put it in the incubator. Very sad..

killer was jerk ignore babies through holes has started climbing over

I put boards 2 feet tall around the pen to keep this thing from jerking babies through the holes in the poultry netting. If it couldn't jury the whole body through, it just ate the head. Now it started going over the top of the 5 ft poultry net. What could this be? I have lost probably 25 young...

Coyotes got 7 of my favorites 10 days ago so I turned on the bator

I put every egg I had from them in there and the eggs were as old as 15 days old. No chilling or keeping turned since I was not planning on hatching. I just candled 14 good out of 14 bantam cochin. Just crossing my fingers they continue to do well and hatch.

    Day 24 final tally

I started with 36 eggs, 4 didn't progress, probably no fertilization. 18 perfect chicks, 3 more with splayed legs that I'm working on, 1 that zipped halfway and died, 1 that was shrink wrapped but alive. I helped it but not sure if it will make it or not. I figured it was dead in the shell for...

I think I saved one of my silkies from being spraddled!

It came out of the incubator spraddle legged. Totally unable to walk and I was afraid I would have to cull. I looked on this site for anything I could do to help the little one and it is able to walk after just a few hours treatment with a bandaid. I was so thankful for all the knowledge I have...

Day 19 on my first hatch and I JUST HEARD A BABY CHICKEN!!!!

I am literally crying because I thought I had killed them all, but someone is alive in there. I put them on lockdown yesterday and I thought I would start noticing some sort of movement but there was none so far. Cross your fingers for me that they make it out ok.

I saw a couple of babies jumping around in some of my eggs, but..

It looks like the pointy end is where the air sacs are at. I thought the clear parts would be at the fat top end. The babies are floating around near the fat end and the pointy parts are clear. Is the clear part something besides the air sac? I'm at day 7 in a Farm Innovator with forced air and...

Should I ignore the directions that came with my incubator?

With all these different ways of incubating, I'm worried I should have not even looked at the directions. This is my first attempt and I'm using a Farm Innovator with a fan and egg turner on 38 eggs. I have 2 extra thermometers and a hygrometer. Temps have been between 99 and 100. The...

Well not really town, but here, lol. I started with hatchery Jersey Giants and Buckeyes last May, realized those things were going to get really mean really fast and switched to black austrolorpes and americaunas along with a couple cochin.
