I thought I was safe from raccoons

I have had my coop for 6 years. I was proud of the fact it was raccoon proof. Last night a raccoon showed me otherwise. One dead and one wounded. I never thought it could do this.

Vent problem - what is this?

She hasn’t had any droppings since I moved her inside, about 14 hours ago, so I assume she is constipated.

Vent problem - what is this?

This is a 3 year old Silver Laced Wyandotte. What is going on here? She is acting normal. I saw this yesterday evening. I segregated her, bathed her, sprayed with wound care and it is more swollen this morning. Any advice?

    Hen recovered from ascites

I wanted to share this story since most of what I read about ascites is not promising. I have a small mixed flock. Earlier this year I had a Rhode Island Red who died from ascites. It was distressing to watch her suffer and decline to the point that I had to cull her to end her suffering. Two...

    Chicken carrying an egg..

I have had people tell me they have never seen or heard of a chicken doing this.. She went broody in the nesting box. After two days, carried this one out and about 4 of them ate it. Left the other two eggs. She has been sitting on 6 eggs for a week now elsewhere in the coop.
