I have been talking about her this past week, everyone seem to think she was egg bound. I checked her and felt her belly but it wasn't hard, so maybe if she was egg bound the egg may have broke in her because when I checked I had to clean the poop off of her, her vent was plugged up like they...
I don't know for certain if you have to clip chickens wings, we never have and never had a problem with them flying up in trees much unless trying to get away from certain predators. Hopefully, someone that has raised chickens alot longer than I have will answer you question. Hope you have a...
My neighbors dog has killed a number of my chickens and I own 129 acres. The dog comes up to my house we have talked to our neighbors and got them to understand if they don't want to care of their dog that there will be a price to pay. Well I do believe when they go away on vacation they...
That looks alot like a cooper hawk, I had alot of them after my chickens to. I use to free range my chickens but since I have had hawks (coopers and redtails), neighbors dog, and other predators I believe I am going to put up a run for my chickens not sure exact what to do yet either but I know...
Glad see you want to raise chickens again, I know I would miss my chickens. You know when you have to give up your chickens for some reason and you miss them you are a chicken lover.
I have been getting alot of info on my hen and just wanting to let everyone know greatly appreciated, but I have another question that I have seen on the egg bound everyone else has said how their hens when goes egg bound tries sitting on the nest but my hen never has done that at all, all she...
my girl seems to want to stay standing pretty much in the same place all the time, she doesn't like to sit at all. Maybe because she has trouble standing back up. So another problem with being egg bound could give her problems in standing back up and could that make her weak also?
I have also another question about chickens that are internal layers or egg binding, my girl has the same symptoms as cocci but no bloody poop as far as I have seen but my next question is : do they have problems getting back up on their feet if they are internal layers or egg bound? My girl...
Thank you for telling me about my buff is just eating well, thats a relief. There names are Buffy, messed up eye (my daughter named her for from birth she couldn't see out of one eye.), Buddy, and Ginger. Is there a website I could find more info out about internal layers? I keep posting on her...
I checked her last night and since I have separated her I haven't seen any poop. So I don't know if it's bloody or not. Is it normal for a chicken not to poop much if they are internal layers? Another question for anyone, can a chicken lay normally and then all of a sudden become an internal...
I have been getting fewer eggs also. My flock seem fine. But I do have some chickens that apparently isn't eating enough oystershell for they because once in a while i find a softshelled egg in nesting box and if I don't get it out before another hen goes in to lay an egg and breaks the egg...
I just separated her from the rest of the flock I will check her poop and I will also feel to see if her abdomen is hard and if is I will try that. She has looked this for at least a week but she was still getting around ok, getting on the roost, eating, drinking and going outside. It was just...
I forgot to thank you for the website. The symptoms of coccidiosis describes exactly what my leghorn is acting like. But I didn't think they could get this disease when they got older. But thank you again. for I got stuff to help. hopefully I didn't get it in her to late and that she will...
