    Polish pullet or roo?

I’m having a hard time determining if your buff is a bearded polish. Bearded polish will have little to no have wattles. I’ve attached a photo of my silver laced polish roo that also has no wattles. If you can upload another picture of the buff’s back with the darker feathers it might be more...

    Polish pullet or roo?

I’m thinking rooster for the buff polish. There looks like the beginning of saddle feathers in the 2nd pic. My buff polish hen never had this darker coloring to her feathers so that is also suspicious.

Lethargic hen with white/green watery poop

Another update: We gave her some antibiotics and started tube feeding her some food mix powder. She has been slowly regaining more function everyday and is looking like she will make a full recovery. Thanks so much for your help!! :)

Lethargic hen with white/green watery poop

Update: We found the hen collapsed in the coop this morning. We brought her inside the house and have been attempting to give her Sav-A-Chick electrolyte solution by syringe. Assuming the worst at this point especially since she cant even keep her head up. The only promising sign is that her...

Lethargic hen with white/green watery poop

She is walking on her hocks and not sitting. I wasnt suspecting coccidiosis because I have not seen any blood in her poop. I do have Corid on hand so I could go ahead and just try to treat her. I havent seen any worms either but before this she was a bit on the thin side so maybe worms is the...

Lethargic hen with white/green watery poop

This polish hen is a little over a year old. She has been lethargic since yesterday and is squatting down but not in the penguin-like stance. Tonight we noticed she also has some heavy breathing. No other flock members are exhibiting any symptoms. She isnt very handleable so we havent been...

Sexing 7 week old Polish chickens

Just wanted to provide an update! # 1, 2, and 5 are roosters and the rest are all hens. We definitely lucked out a second time with our gender ratio. Thanks for all the help!

Sexing 7 week old Polish chickens

Thank you everyone! I'll update in a few weeks. We wouldn't mind a few cockerels since we are planning to start a bachelor flock this year. We are hoping for at least 3 pullets though to help balance out our current ratio in the adult chicken coop (1 rooster and 3 hens). The ladies are...

Sexing 7 week old Polish chickens

Hello all, We have 8 polish chickens that are a little over 7 weeks old. Six of the chicks (white-crested black, blues, and splashes) are from Cackle Hatchery and two of the chicks (tolbunts) are from a local breeder. Since the tolbunts are bearded I think I'll need to wait a few more weeks...

Polish chicks 12-14 weeks old, still unsure of gender. Help!

I believe the buff laced is a roo. The males have darker feathers in the crest whereas the females are lighter. You can see some of the darker feathers starting to grow in on yours. Also, the crest is very long and not neat. Blue #1 and #2 are roos based on the wattles. Cant see the blurry...

Still making the same noise and head shake but the chick seems to be growing well! We even got him to pose (briefly haha) for our pregnancy announcement :love

Two week old Polish chick is shaking head and making an odd peep noise

Still doing the same sneezing motion but she is eating and drinking fine. None of the other chicks are showing any symptoms. We might try giving the chick some electrolytes solution because I saw another post that a chick shaking its head could be due to a nutritional deficiency. Hoping...

Two week old Polish chick is shaking head and making an odd peep noise

We have a single polish chick that appears to be shaking his head a lot and making a single odd peep noise (cough/sneeze?). The little chick seems to be eating and drinking fine. It is a few days younger than the others but roughly the same size as the other brown one similar in age. No...

Silver laced Polish experts…what do you think?

I think this is a pullet if she is 6 months old. The saddle feathers were obvious on our silver laced polish rooster after 3 months and his comb and wattles are much more red then yours. The crest feathers on yours are a little unkempt for a pullet but it doesnt look quite as rockstar like as...

Chicken noises when locked up in coop before night

Haha I figured this is what was going on. We’re currently trying to get a larger run predator-proofed and ready for them so hopefully Mushu will be more happy soon!

Chicken noises when locked up in coop before night

One of our chickens, Mushu, makes the sound in the video below when we get all the chickens back in the coop for the night. It is our first time owning chickens and I’m not sure what it means. She is the only one that makes this noise. Thanks in advance for your help!
