Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Thanks for the check in! Still have my little flock (5 ladies and 1 "I'm ALL THAT" bantam roo) Although I've shuffled a few girls in the last year (1 rehomed, 2 bought, 3 died, 1 gifted) Next project is to give a few eggs to a lady at my church who incubates eggs and sells the chicks. I want...

    Waterer idea

Don’t you just hate/love these waterers? They keep the water clean and last more than a day or so BUT the filling is such a PAIN I was tired of having to jam the top into the ground or trying to hold it between my feet to lock/unlock the bottom so I made this little board arrangement- put an...

    Mutt chicken

Hello I’ve had this girl for about 2 years. I will no longer buy “straight run” chicks because I clearly fail at chicken roulette 😜 Of 6 chickens, she was the only hen Anyway, she came from a friend of a friend’s brooder and he had all sorts so I don’t really know what mix she could be. She...

    Well, he's toast now

I have a little bantam roo - (he was supposed to be a hen when acquired but I’m awful at “chicken roulette”) He’s a doll - he will let kids pick him up and sooooo far hasn’t shown any aggression to people. Plus he has the cutest little crow

    Well, he's toast now

Freezer camp!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’ve had several Roos that I’ve “set free” to try their luck in the wild. My friend had one that jumped her and her granddaughter so her husband used him for cross bow practice and made rooster “shisk kabob”

    What’s wrong

she's been walking like this for several weeks - no visible injuries. When she started, I think she stopped laying for a couple of weeks but now she's laying again...and still walking like that

    What’s wrong

Is she normal? Picking her up and manipulating her legs doesn’t seem to cause any pain and nothing “feels” out of joint. Any ideas?

    video upload

no, unfortunately it's some thing you have to see - it's the way she's walking now - like a leg is out of joint (she's not egg bound)

    video upload

I'm trying to post a video to support a health question about one of my girls, but evidently phone videos can't be uploaded. I don't have a youtube account to load it on (as many suggestions have stated) so I'm at a loss as to how to get my video to my post. Any ideas?

One thin shelled egg in the lot

Not very - she’s been laying +\- a year If I remember, I don’t think her eggs started out being this thin

One thin shelled egg in the lot

I have 5 active layers but one Ameracauna always lays a paper thin shelled egg. It also has calcium bumps on it sometimes. I’m feeding everyone oyster shell mix and the rest have perfectly normal shells. What can be done for her?

Comment by 'krimsonkitty' in article 'Who is Laying.....and Who is Not? Butt Check!'

A little more challenging way to tell who’s laying what- and definitely a 2 person job is to dye their vents. The gel type food color works well. The last time I did it I tried with a syringe but next time I’m just going to use rubber gloves and a finger. I have one laying a soft shell egg and...

    Leather eggs??

I have a few good layers (firm shelled white, brown and green eggs). But I also have a blue egg layer whose egg shells are very thin or have the calcium bumps on them. I not so worried about her but I have someone else (not sure which one) that is laying a soft, leathery shell. Usually the...
