She will probably kick his butt if he tries or vocally warn him she's good :lau
If it's important to you for a reason I'd think Supervised playtime with kids & both buns could be ok, if doe gets too agitated tho she could be a lil grumpier as weeks go on. I have gentle does the kids play with...
I had a Holland buck with chickens for a year. They did great. He had his own hutch to escape to if needed but loved to catch a chicken because they'd squat for him when he did :gig he was big enough to take a peck if chickens were testy and nice enough to not be a danger to the chickens (grown...
I would make them their own pen if you plan on breeding. A lot can go wrong that's just not worth risking imo. It's one thing to have a buck in there, he'll hump chickens and maybe play chase if ornery. A doe will become defensive as she matures and breeds. She could harm a curious chicken. The...
My boys (nzw) don't have super visable or swinging testicles until about 12 weeks-16 weeks. If examined closely around 8 weeks you can see the bare area on each side where they will drop in time :)
Once you "see" you can do it at any age. I have sexed 2 litters now at a week old (18 kits total and each was correct. But have a few more week olds marked now to try another litter :) coulda been lucky!)
A lil tricky at first...especially if your learning and have all of one sex lol. When I...
Mine drink from these.
The poultry nipples they'll be able to figure out too. When switching watering ways I usually give the a few days careful observation. I also "show" them how for a few minutes (tapping it til it makes a mess lol but when its hot I wanna make sure they see water comes out...
I'm sorry to hear you lost some :'( Ive been freezing gallon jugs and place them in their cages. They Hang out next to it, lick it, lay on top. I have a dirt floor and will put one one its side and it will drip cool water as it melts. They hang out next to it and beg when you take it away to...
I would keep the buck separate. They may get along but he will breed her regularly (even if you don't see him) and she may get tired of him. In the event she does get annoyed she could injure him or worse bobitt him making him useless as a breeder.
She will get grumpier the closer to kindling...
Well, a Cali doe I got on 5/31 is building a ferocious nest of hay/fur/anything she can reach :lau goodness. I haven't bred her and she has no reach to a buck...Babies just might arrive very soon she's very disturbed at the moment, refusing attention and treats and all other buns are chilled out...
