This is a cockerel. The Dark Brahmas look very different from one another at a fairly young age. The females have lacing all over their bodies except for their heads an necks and the boys have a lot more black on them. He is very handsome!

I love seeing Chuck! My girls look similar, I love how huge they are and so silky soft!

So a hawk killed one of my Gold Laced chicks, I am so sad!! I have my boy left and he seems okay but hasn't been peeping for her at all-I never knew chickens had so much insight. My boyfriend was nearby but not close enough and they were too young to be out without someone right there. So sad...

Looks like a male (with all the red on his face) and a female. I had a pair that looked just like them-they were awesome!

I didn't want anymore babies but I saw these and freaked out-they are so beautiful! Hoping I can keep them.

Here's a pic from yesterday. He is only a little bigger, but his comb is much more pronounced. Her head is much wider but her comb hasn't started popping up yet. How awful is it to separate pairs? Does the loud peeping last long? It's so sad to hear them calling to eachother. I've always rehomed...

Hi Mes, Nicole and I have siblings and I'm pretty sure I have a girl and a boy but my boy looks like your girls so now I'm less sure. The other boys I've had started crowing at 8 weeks so I'm hoping he lets me know soon. I will have to rehome them if so:( I've posted pictures just a few posts...

I got mine at ten days old from Jacqueline, she hatched them from eggs from guy who started the breed (cant remember his name).I wish I could get some decent photos of them-they move so fast and aren't as cuddly as my others. The one who looks like a boy has purple and green colored feathers...

Are you a photographer? Your photos are very professional looking and the colors you get are so rich. Poppy is an amazing bird and very photogenic. Her face is beautiful and her eyes are so dark and pretty, post away!!
