Yes I got one chick from them - yellow down with black spots so I'm hoping it's another hen just like Cowgirl - already have Cowgirl Jr so this will be Cowgirl the third!
The NN (never-pipped) chick was also Roger's with NN Blue hen - so he's still doing a fine job. I think I was collecting...
Please check your local laws regarding electrifying top of walls (at property perimeter) - I checked that a couple years ago in Mesa and I believe at that time it was not legal. Also I checked laws if I could razor wire (or similar) top of walls and don't remember what I found out but decided...
8 Bielefelder chicks
2 Bf/NN chicks
1 Roger/Cowgirl NN chick
We had electrical work/shutoff happening on Friday so I had incubator hooked up to generator waiting on 6 more to hatch - this was 2 days after hatch day as counted on the incubator. I didn't see any signs of movement or pipping on...
Yes that's perfect! I'm waiting to count male/female until they are all dry and I can take pic. Some are not as chipmunk striped as others so not completely sure.
Incuview incubator has 15 eggs that could possibly hatch today to Thursday.
3 or 4 of @BlueBaby Bielefelder eggs are starting to pip already.
This is the incubator egg count right now:
8 Bf eggs from Bluebaby (4 removed from incubator a week ago - 2 quitters, 2 infertile)
4 Bf eggs from my...
I used to usePurina flock-raiser as an all-flock but I think it's actually higher protien if I remember correctly. I would also use it when I wanted to collect eggs for hatching.
The All-purpose poultry I use now is a store brand - Olsen's Feed Store in Chino Valley (also Prescott Valley, Mayer...
Not yet, but I think it is moving still- I noticed it is #8 of the original 8 that I let her sit on so it must be behind the other one by a few days. I don't remember what number I marked on the Friday-midnite-hatched egg (maybe 5?). If it was still under her it would be abandoned by now so good...
1 chick hatched 9-15 around midnight...pics... NN Bielefelder mix looks to be red or splash with a bowtie, but we will see how it actually colors up...
One of Broody's egg (now in incubator) is rocking! I stopped her two eggs from auto turning yesterday because candled they looked at least 17 or 18 days to me (maybe more). I just now took the turner arm off while these 2 possibly hatch. I'll have to turn the rest of the tray thru the vent hole...
My Hatchkeeper app says I started on 6th. And I just found where I wrote it down on the 6th. Maybe I started the incubator on 5th to get it ready. Incubator countdown says I'm on day 14 (countDOWN - it just now changed from 15)
No I only took 2 Barred Hollands (since I have multiple BH roosters still) and 4 clear NN eggs out. I think all the Bf have something in them - hard to tell because brown eggs and it's pretty early -only day 6 I think.
Yes Ft Knox it shall be - but at least Broody is now broken!
Update 2 on Broody- I had to take 2 eggs that survived a jealous ruckus from other hen and put them in incubator. Broody wasn't separated securely enough to keep ruckus out.
So I took 2 eggs out of incubator to make room and then another 4 clear eggs came out next day when I candled (very early...
