This girl right here is killing me. She stopped laying at the beginning of winter and here we are now in April and still no eggs. She is only 2.5 at this point but lord have mercy.
Tell me about it. The only bird big enough to have done it is the little black turken beside her. All of my other birds currently are bantam sized. Whoever it was ripped the skin and feathers off my cochins head. I am hoping it was simply a product of being cooped up all winter with the cold...
It gets even better. Not only is she a naked neck. Not only is she frizzled. Not only does she have a mohawk. Not only is she 8-10 pounds. She also lays blue/green eggs.
Looks like i am going to have 2 very strong showgirl roosters here. They have plenty of bow tie but otherwise they are perfect. These toes have better spacing and formation than their dads did.
@Kev Here's GABoy's NN Broiler. For reference that is a 3.5-4" wood post she is standing on. Her feet are getting huge and she's as big around as my brahma.
So i was going to get rid of this little rooster because he crows non stop all day long but he is producing some great little NN's. I'm getting some with no bowtie, some with a tiny bowtie, some with a large bowtie, the occasional non nn, and the toes are all very very well distinguished. Guess...
Yes sir.
Anyone ever seen this color pattern before? I am 90% sure it's a boy so I don't plan to keep it anyways but just curious what it may end up looking like.
They should all be bantams minus the two turkens. Granted mom was LF and dad was bantam so who knows. The buff/red chick came out much larger than the others so he may be a turken roo LF.
Well my girl went broody at 9 month. So far i've got 4 out of 10 eggs. The dad is a black showgirl, moms are a black turken, a white showgirl and a smooth white showgirl. No idea who the fuzzy yellow one would have come from.
I know some of these are terrible pictures but i was trying to get all 3 flavors in one picture. We've got white frizzle, white smooth, and white silkie.
I waited so long to find her! I kept seeing them pop up and knew i had to have one. This is actually one of GeorgiaBoy's experiments. She is a little small but the flock is being relatively gentle letting her into their ranks. Hopefully a few more weeks and she will have enough size to hold her...
