It was the air temp 🥶🥶 Thankfully it was just a day I think that was that low, but the schools and some businesses had to close because peoples cars wouldnt start and kids cant wait for the bus in that! Crazy times! -17 still is sooo cold! I hate when the year gets to that point.

    Pipd's Peeps!

I totally know what you mean! Its so hard to leave the little buggers out there in the cold even though they're much more equipped for it than me! This year we put in some good ventilation systems in the coop and I have yet to see any frostbite.. yay! Last year, by this time with my old coop I...

Our days haven't been too bad lately either.. we have been around 40 too lately. At night it gets into the teens, but nothing terrible for this time of year! I had my plastic sheeting up too and then we had a super windy day and it all blew off and its still laying out in the yard  I did...

Aww yay Zinnia! I just spent the morning catching up on your thread (the last time I posted was in April! :0 ) I cant get over how CUTE Dandelion is! And Sumi and Myrtle and Peanut Butter... basically every one. Soooo cute! Do you guys have cold weather yet in Indiana? We have been prepping...

Sooo cute! Those cochins and cochin mixes get me every time with their floofy little selves! I can't believe I don't have any still! For some reason the thread wasn't giving me notifications and without notifications I remember nothing.. but I happened to see this thread pop back up again...

Awww such sweet little fluffy butts! It's making me excited for my first incubator hatch (due 4/24). Also too funny about the spur in the fence. My little rooster knocked a spur off that way too. He never did it again and wasn't phased, but I was quite worried when I discovered most of his...

Looks good! What do you keep in your rooster pens? I always loved the idea of "rescuing" boys and having a bachelor coop.

    Pipd's Peeps!

I should have done my winterizing too, but I took a nap! I did start too at least. Before when I had a large coop, I didn't do anything to winterize because I had enough birds to keep it all warm. This is my first year using a small coop so I'm adding a covered run outside of it so they...

    Pipd's Peeps!

So cute!! It's very cold/windy here too. It's time to winterize the coop!

    Pipd's Peeps!

I think you're right! The bantams I was talking about before that I had were part cochin so maybe that is why they were so tough! I might have to sneak some in before winter comes... I'm sure their fluffiness will help warm the others too :love

    Pipd's Peeps!

Ohhh thank you for that info! That will not be the right bird for me then. Last year our temp for about three days in January was -40  All schools and some businesses had to close and we couldn't get our cars started! It was crazy so I definitely need a cold hardy bird. Although, at that...

    Pipd's Peeps!

Wow such gorgeous photos and birds! I love all the different colored Easter Eggers you have. Mine always turned out the standard brown color. Thanks for the info about OEGB's! I might have to add some of those to my flock soon :D I used to have these four bantam hens that were super feisty but...

    Pipd's Peeps!

Wow all those birds are soooo pretty!!! How do you like having OEGB's? Do you separate them from the bigger birds? I'm thinking of getting a breed I can trust hatching eggs - I love my silkies and cochins but the OEGB's are so beautiful! Vira looks like a whole new chicken!

So sorry about Josephine! :( I've been starting from the beginning of this thread, but keep getting too side-tracked so I came to the end! :p You have such beautiful birds! ♥ I checked out your pages with all the pics and they are soooo beautiful!
