Ok new question: This morning I opened the chicken coop door to the girls pecking/arguing over who was going to eat the egg they just broke open! How do I fix that behavior besides getting up super early to get the eggs and I don't think they lay their eggs at the same time. I'm so mad that...
They don't seem to be preening more than usual. I did notice the red skin isn't so red. I'm going to possibly spray them all again tonight, the label says every other day. I just want to get rid of whatever it is. I am going to get Diamotous sp? earth to sprinkle on them, in their dirt holes...
How work has slowed down for you, NC Chick Man82. I have another question. I just noticed a few days ago my chickens have black spots on their legs. Do you have any idea what it may be? Thnk you!
Roo is doing great! Thank you for asking! He hasn't run over and pecked me again. Phew! :). He is eating/drinking good and starting to crow, though we think he sounds like a broken party hon. Lol.

He seemed fine this am, I'm going out to the coop soon to put them up for the night. The usual routine is I crouch down and pet all 9 of them, I can't pet the guinea hens. I also routinely pick up Roo and the other 3 young ones just to acclimate them. :).
Ok another question: Are...
Your welcome! Do you have experience with roosters? I was petting my Easter Egger when Roo started to come over, so I called him, he crouched down made his neck bigger rushed over and pecked me. I immediately swatted him and said NO, I will not keep a mean rooster. This was the first time...

Roo got his beaked trimmed yesterday and my vet recommended adding cracked corn and a growing mash to his food. His food is placed in a deep dish bowl so he can put his whole beak in. He is doing much better!
Went to the vet today, Roo got his beak trimmed, going to add cracked corn and a growing mash to his food, along with monthly beak trims. My vet is awesome and won't charge me for the trims. He said other than the scissor beak, Roo is a very nice rooster.
Yes I'll definitely let you know!!! I'm confident I can keep him healthy. I don't mind feeding him special or separate or anything else that needs to be done. He is very sweet, comes when he is called, just a nice rooster. :).
Thank you NC Chick Man82! Yes I think I will call my vet, he is very knowledgeable and probably knows something. I do know my rooster named Roo seems to have difficulty picking food up. I read the thread on here about scissor beak and making him a mash along with a few other options. Once I...
Do you have any experience with scissor beak? I posted a thread and picture of my rooster that has it. I've never dealt with scissor beak and want to do the right thing. Thank you!
