Craig'sHens : Quote: I'm also pretty sure this is a cockerel. It also has the beginnings of wattles that you can't see in the photo. But all 18 chicks have very few feathers. Some are a bit more feathered and some a but less. About 1/3 of them have no feathers at all on their shoulders...

Quote: My first guess on the BLRW is pullet, but it's still early. Craig....I'd bet money that your's is a cockeral.......all my SLW cockerals feather in like that plus I can see a bit of red comb. Katy, re your sig: The disadvantage of being a Farmer/Rancher is that you never get that...

Mrs. Turbo : I will be glad when hatching season is over....we are all tired! For some reason this year has been crazy, maybe because we added a new variety and a 5th child to the mix. He is almost 10 months and does not like me to leave the room, let alone sneak to the barn or brooder room...

Mrs. Turbo : Quote: Mypetchicken.com I don't know who they got their SLW picture from but I can tell you that is not what their breeding stock looks like. Those traits would be passed on in the chicks. I think I found their picture once on a UK website. There is false advertising...
