Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

I nevered imagined I would have a chicken so small that I would use a lid to a 20oz. Sprite bottle for a water bowl. We have now moved to a chick waterer but before he could walk we used to lid with a marble in case he suddenly fell asleep like he did in the beginning. We have come so far!

Thank you yinepu! That was perfect! This is a pic of my little guy and his new friends. He has 3 new friends . His buddies are Frizzle crosses. Hubby wanted something full blood but these little guys were the closest to his size that we could find in a pinch. I didn't want anything so big...

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Although I haven't turned off my incubator yet, I will tonight. None of my other s4 eggs pipped and after candling it is pretty obvious those babies died. Thankfully, out of the two I decided to open, the one is doing wonderful!!!!!!! It was so critical at first. He was out of the egg with...

Tia, I'm so sorry your chick didn't make it. Mine finally broke free of the umbilical part last night. He immediately sat up but is still not standing well. I hope his legs are okay but we will see. As for the other eggs, I think the chicks are dead. I hope I can figure out my problem. I...

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

I haven't given any antibiotics. I'm hoping they both survive. It might be my only chick. I'm going to try some sugar water. It is actually more active than it was this morning but still not trying to stand.

They are beautiful! Congratulations! My little one is still alive but not standing. I dont' think all of the yoke obsorbed. I'm thinking about giving it a little sugar water. I actually cried a bit ago looking at it. I want to be able to hatch healthy babies so bad! I pray he lives!

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Update for me! About 12:30am we finally got #2 out of the shell. I left the end part on because it seemed like it probably needed to dry up and fall off alone. It hasn't moved much but is still very much alive. I'm hoping it is just exhausted. My other four eggs still have not pips but...

Well that little chick died. It seemed as though it took up the entire egg. I have another that is a bit out. We will see! I'll keep you posted.

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

My spelling today is horrid. I left the area where his beak is exposed open and made sure the paper towel is around the rest of the egg.

Well although he had broken through his membrane there are still plump vessels in the good membrane. I wrapped it in a paper towel with just the area around his been exposed. He is resting right now. I pray all will be well. I'll keep you guys posted.

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Here is what I found. I slowly opened the pin sized hole that I made to find the membrane the that was barrier to the air cell was completely white and couldn't be seen through. The chick really started peeping loudly. I continued to removed more of the hard shell and leave the white inner...

Okay, we are going into 21 days 6 hours and 24 + hours with a peeping baby that is fading. I'm going to check on my big chickens outside and then come in and see what I can find. Thanks so much!

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Okay, I'm going to open it up enough to see if there is a problem. If there is a need to leave it and wrap it in a paper towel do I just wrap it everywhere except the whole? What if it tries to pip in a different area that is covered by towel?

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Quote: I totally agree! I am new here and to incubating and have been following this thread. I so appreciate the time and effort you put forth to help us. I'm torn on what to do. I feel I should go ahead and see because the peeping has dwindled so since yesterday. It wasn't loud like a...

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Just to make sure I understand, the membrane will not be right by the air cell? I put the small hole in the air cell area away from the chick. I just wanted to ensure it didn't suffocate. It was peeping very loudly yesterday and today only softly an not often. Is there a membrane around...

Should I help this chick hatch or it is ok?

Quote: can you see inside the egg through the hole you made? No I can't. The chick quietly peeped at me when I candled it. I only made a very small whoe. I can't see anything. I wondered if I should just go ahead and make it large enough to see what it looked like inside and then wrap it...
