Looks like some warmer weather is here! The girls are out of their winter slumber.
And I can finally finish up on the new build. Just need the ground to thaw a bit so I can anchor the fencing.
Hope everyone had a safe and relaxing 4th.
Pulled eggs from the coop yesterday and found this little gem. One of our young BCM laid her first egg and its a darkie! Figured Id share...my wife was quite pleased.
She is really good but had a naughty spell as a puppy. She killed a few when she was young, even brought one in the house and on the sat on the couch with it. I didn't notice it right away. She's a gentle giant now though. I trust her 100% unattended with all my birds.
One more real fast, I have to share this.
This is Bigbird, our silkie rooster. He's quite the character. He looks like the dumbest chicken on earth until you mess with him. Then he spreads his wings and turns into Chuck Norris. My 18 mo old Lab gets molested regularly. Took this today.....
Where'd everyone go?
Its been an exciting week here at the farm. Our peafowl eggs are starting to hatch. We have 3 chicks already and another 20 or so eggs that are growing great.
Here's our first chick of the season. His name is Turbo.
Second is Ava. A silver pied oddball.
Anyone else...
If they are roos, you will know for sure very soon. Once the comb starts growing, it doesn't stop. Our first batch are getting chest and belly feathers, the roosters are very noticeable.
If/when you want to swap, just say the word.
Figured I throw this out here, we have a few birds that need to go.
First, is 2 Rouen duck hens. One year old, great layers.
Next is a pair of black showgirls. These were hatched by us last spring and produced babies last month. The hen is currently a broody psycho.
Message me for more details.
I'm glad to hear they went to a good home. The batch we hatched before your birds are very active at attempting to learn to fly. It looks like a winged NASCAR race. Next move for them is our 4x8 brooder box.
My wife loves to hear from our buyers. The updates keep her motivated. Thanks!
Good to hear. Ours are pigs too, when they all get in the food dish and start kicking its hilarious. It turns into a race to see who can scatter the most grub.
I will hopefully have several extra pullets incase you need to trade me a rooster. Just send me a message.
We have quite a few chicks ready. The chicks in my photos above and a few misc bantams will need new homes shortly.
We also have a few mutt chicks and a 13wk old Americauna rooster to rehome.
Snapped a couple more photos today. A mix of SG chicks and 3 FBCMs that hatched this week. Good bowties on about half of our birds this year.
Here's a shot of my peacock "popcorn" showing off for his ladies.
If anyone is looking for FBCM in the eastern part of the state, shoot me a message. I'm over run with the little fuzzy footed white butts and still have eggs hatching.
Most are a bit over a week old and have all learned to ski in thier food dish at the same time.
