I think you can still join. I mean, you are "hatching along" no matter what, but joining [send a message to @casportpony with details..] let's your hatch "count" in some contests.
The "How many eggs set for EHAL?" contest is closed and done, yours probably cant count there.
The "How many will...
As CluckNDoodle said, it's all up to @casportpony - "official" registry is by a PM to them with how many eggs you've set and expected hatch dates for each. I read somewhere that hatches due within 3 days +/- of Saturday 4/11, will count in the contests (how many set, farthest shipped etc..)...
That's awesome - I love the clear dome! I went last week to buy a second one, and all they had on the shelves were the "white top, clear belt, hidden rear vent" versions, and I was concerned that I had gotten one of the last of the clear dome type. Glad to hear it's the other way around.
The fan...
This photo perfectly illustrates my only complaint with my NR360 (and somehow, though I bought it new 3 weeks ago, it says "ver.1" in the manual and has the clear wrap-over dome with the more visible air vent on the front side (which I prefer anyway..)). My complaint is with the unit's candler...
Generally speaking, a given mass of air, with a given mass of evaporated water in it, will have different RH readings at different temperatures, because cooler air can hold less moisture, and RH is "the moisture you have" as a percentage of "the maximum amount that air can hold at a specific...
I've had my 10 chickens for 2 years.. I bought my incubator on 3/14 right after I saw this:
That's a Walmart Supercenter egg section sold out - panic buying on 3/13. Less than 12 dozen of the "premium" eggs remain (non-GMO, organic, Omega-3 boosted, whatever..). My birds already lay more eggs...
"Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the Sun...
But Mama, that's where the fun is!"
I wonder if the intensity of the light could be painful/stressful to the developing chick, or even impair eye development. Most bird species are reported to have excellent eyesight, but chickens...
I thought you were using a Hovabator, because I found a post where you said so. My plan details (cell addresses, cells per quadrant etc..) were based on the Hovabator egg turner holding 42 eggs in a 7x6 grid...
I am a little curious.. how often do you rotate your eggs Volleyball Style? Because, I'm thinking that an egg which starts at lower left, marches along the sidewall to the LR corner, then jumps to UL, then marches along the other wall.. that's 12 steps before it can begin to move away from the...
Your only hope is to summon all the King's horses and all the King's men...
Actually, I saw something online last year (with pics, so it had to be true..) about Japanese students who had figured out how to put plastic over water glasses to make a "well", place fertilized egg contents in the...
Neither had I. And it took me a few minutes of thinking about spinning volleyBALLs, imagining pent/hex-agon shapes drawn on eggs (and yeah, those are SOCCER balls...), before my mind let go of the ball and realized that she meant "player rotation". (Sometimes I'm way too literal. and slow to...
After each point in a volleyball game, the players on the serving team rotate to different positions on the field, so a different player serves the ball each time. Cindy is moving her eggs around within her incubator, in case it has hot or cold spots..
I get the volleyball rotation - should help average out any temperature variations within your incubator space.. but I hope you're also rotating them "planet style", around their long axis, so a different side is up, every 6 to 8 hours. Otherwise, the chicks can get stuck to one side of the...
Interesting.. I never saw that at my TSC - but then again, i dont have a reason to visit the equine aisle there. I know the cooking pellets are hardwood and fruit wood, food grade, formulated to burn clean with low ash and creosote, and no toxins to contaminate food. All the smoker makers...
It turns out that the founders of Aldi/Trader Joe's- two brothers, I guess - couldn't work together, so they divided the company into "Aldi Nord" (owns TJ stores in US and Aldi stores outside US), and "Aldi Sud" (owns Aldi stores in US). So, the TJ inventory doesnt imply anything about Aldi...
Cute! Are you keeping those on wood pellets? I thought about doing that with mine, but wasn't sure if it would work, or how long before the chicks grow enough to start eating them.
And, I presume you're using $0.10/lb. fuel pellets, not $0.75/lb. "Pit Boss Competition Blend" smoking/cooking...
