Pet Ducks Dumped in Neighborhood Pond, Help?

All the TSC stores are different. I cannot go to the closest one during chick days because the desire to take them all out of those bad conditions is almost uncontrollable. I even feel sorry for the chicken chicks. The other 4 TSC treat their chicks and ducklings well . The closest one does not...

Pet Ducks Dumped in Neighborhood Pond, Help?

I do not care for chicken or chickens. It probably comes from killing and cleaning them on the farm when I was little. Also, duck poop does not bother me at all compared to chicken poop.

¿ You may have to call them and ask if you have to order it shipped to store.

Pet Ducks Dumped in Neighborhood Pond, Help?

The 5 TSC in driving distance only carry FR crumbles. They waste so much. The ducks are doing fine on the FR pellets but I would feel better about something made just for ducks. Plus, I don’t want people to think I have chickens:gig

I hope TSC or our local feed store will carry this soon. I doubt it will happen though because Flock Raiser pellets are only carried at the feed store.

We were working with a two to four ratio until the K/C started overmating our Pekin. We did not think the runner was mating very much. The eggs we hatched a few months ago proved us wrong. Now @Raenh has the k/c drake. I saw the runner push the K/C off a few times but they never fought. It was a...

Pet Ducks Dumped in Neighborhood Pond, Help?

Giving away drakes is hard but must be done. We were lucky to rehome to either BYC people or people we already knew.

Our KC hen’s but points up and to her right 45 degrees. The drakes go after her first. Also she is the second best flyer in the flock. I think butt angles are genetic and nothing to worry about. As far as flying, she is the second best to the KC drake.

I have only seen the runner attempt to mate once but he has knocked the KC drake out of the saddle a few times. Maybe they will get through spring without anything Bad happening.so far we have had one good experience giving a drake away and another that was not good. I don’t want to give the KC...

We are taking a chance with 4 hens and two drakes right now. I would not bring it down to two drakes and two hens. It is going to take someone getting hurt for me to convince the wife that one more drake has to go

:eek::eek::eek::eek: Never seen the boy/boy so far.i have seen to drakes on the Pekin hen followed by the KC hen on the Pekin. I have seen a Rouen hen get on the KC hen. I believe ducks have three things on their mind in spring in this order. Sex, water/mud, and food when they have time.

We spoil our ducks. They are old enough for pellets, which would be less waste. We get oyster shell from Tractor Supply but any good feed store should have it.

That is what we use and now that we are getting eggs, they get oyster shell on the side

Not an expert but my guess is the lighter bill one is only part Pekin . It will take effort, but you can let them out in the morning and give them feed and treats in the evening when they get back to their house. I would suggest keeping them penned but spoiled with treats for a few days before...
