Yep, what Duramax girl said. I don't try to figure it out until 8 wks when it is very obvious looking at combs and wattles. Boys combs will be red and they will have big wattles. Girls will have no wattles and still pale yellow combs.
I would think it would be any day now.....although I know sometimes the pullets can take up until 9 mo's or so to lay, so maybe it can take that long for the roo's too.
We also hatched a few recently! We only hatched five. It's kind of a test. We have a Dark Pen set up with a rooster who we think is black (in the right light, sometimes he looks very dark blue?), with two blue hens. So far, I am thinking the hatch confirmed he is black, as I think we have 4...

Blue x Black = 50% blue, 50% black
splash x black = 100% blue

There is an excellent Sex Link thread here which you can ask if you don't see that combo on the first thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=261208
Anybody near me need a BLRW cockerel? I have two extra hatched from Soggy Bottom Farms eggs (Paul's, Blue & Foley's lines). One of them is definently splash, the other one may be a light blue or may be a splash. I'm not 100% sure. They are almost 16 wks. They are free if you can come get them...
Can any experts chime in with any clues they might know of to determine if you have a dark splash or a light blue? I was convinced my flock was 100% splash, but one of my hens is throwing blue babies, so she must be blue! I've heard that with splash roo's, their tail feathers are light and dark...
