When I’m inside the building (I spend a lot of time with them 😊), there are particular little chickens that fly right into my arms. I’ve learned to act fast to catch them! And, they pull at my pants until I pick them up. At any given time, I’ve got 3-4 teeny chickens tucked into my arms. I’m in...
My Budgie chick hatched this morning (day 17). I thought I had a few more days to go, until I saw the external pip last night. Chick’s doing great. I’m so excited! It’s terribly difficult hand-rearing Budgie hatchlings. She/he is the size of my fingernail!! I’m happy to have given this teeny one...
Thank you 😊. I really appreciate it. By the way, I think that’s a terrific photo of him. He’s becoming quite a handsome little man! ❤️ His tail is growing out very nicely. I can see why you’re so taken by him especially.
I love the barring in Lady Gaga’s wing feathers…. so pretty! I’ll keep you updated with the Budgie egg. The first time was a joy, because we became very bonded. It’s just an extremely difficult undertaking. The 1st time was for chick safety, since Inca and King had a large clutch, and they hatch...
Thank you so much!!!! It’ll be terrific to see what your tiny Serama chicks (if you breed them) will look like. Lady Gaga is a gorgeous boy. You’ve got a beautiful mini flock! ❤️
They are all so adorable! ❤️ My Serama (and additional bantam) chick count is up to 17 during the last few weeks, with a few more to hatch. THEN I’M DONE for awhile!! And, I’m NOT changing my mind about it either!! I’ve got precious teeny fluffballs both in the Serama building AND a brooder...
My experience with bantam and LF is that, yes, my teeny girls are more accepting of allowing other hens in their nests. They’re way too sweet, even as they brood. The closer hatch day comes, I’ll be ready to move hens and eggs to the “safe room” away from way-to-curious flock mates and tiny...
Thank you!! I gave in to a few of my teeny girls, and I’m letting them follow through. The others crowd into the nesting buckets when I’m not around (the 2 broodies let them do it), so I think I’ll just move the broodies and their eggs very soon to allow them some well-deserved peace. Below...
UPDATE on Serama Slumbers:
Slumber and her chicks are loving their outside time (under my supervision). All 3 chicks are from other parents in the flock. They hatched July 7, 8, and 14. 2 are Silkie/Sebright (mom) and Porcelain d’Anvers (dad). The smallest chick is Mille Fleur d’Uccle (mom) and...
Their feather patterns are getting really pretty. They look like very sweet teeny ones ❤️.… especially Lady Gaga. He’s so handsome. ☺️ The updates are terrific. Makes me feel guilty for not taking more photos of mine. Slumbers chicks are beginning to feather out, so I need to get more photos...
Your little ones are coming along beautifully! I know exactly what you mean about the flying. I have them flying up onto me from all directions when I enter the building. If I’m quick enough, I can usually catch a few before they fly down to the floor. I truly ❤️ having this breed!
He’s very handsome. ❤️ I’m excited to see how his feathers grow out! It sounds like the 2 of you will be the best of friends. I’ve noticed with mine, that they vie for my attention. It’s really adorable to find myself surrounded after I walk into the building! It’s quite hilarious feeling tiny...
