One of my meat chickens was giving me the eye!! I think I am going to have trouble butchering some of these. There are several that are quite appealing. One tries to sit on my knee but she is getting pretty big! She is a sweetie pie and lets my little granddaughter mess up her feathers by...

Funny that soft feathers come up today. I was sitting out in the chicken coop and petting chickens, more to see if they were doing the squat thing since it is time for them to lay. We have some lf cochins. Oh my but those feathers are sooooo soft! I swear they are as soft as the microfiber...

I always thought bantams were pretty but never wanted any. Big chickens like cochin and brahma seemed more exciting. Then I got a chance to get some bantam cochins. :D One thing I notice about mine is the beautiful patterned leg and foot feathers. Those patterns are worth having the chickens...

Oh he is pretty! I was hoping they might look like that! And the hen? One of the hens looks like she will be very much like yours too. :D The other is very dark and just barely starting to show white. Going to have to get photos of them too but not so easy for them since they are in the coop! llol.

I was looking at my little Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin rooster this morning. They are so pretty! They are getting little turquoise blue/black tail feathers now. The three colored feathers are beautiful. I just love them! They are in temp time out for trying to kill the meat chickens.

Anyone have a use for a speckled sussex rooster? Born July 6th. From McMurrays. He was their rare chick freebie but I have no use at all for him except for soup later on if we keep him.

Wish I could ride again, Pawtraitart. Your big horse might hold me without breaking! I was talking to my mom this morning. She has two chickens, a rooster and a hen. Actually my brother has them but they wander around her house a lot. Buttercups apparently. Anyway as much as I love all the...

These are three of the little mille fleur cochin bantams we got from pawtraitart. You should know I picked them for variety from the ones she had, not perfect colors. I know very little about colors but love these. They are a little over a month old now and very cute. The foot feathering is way...

lucky horse!!! Here we just try to keep the chickens in water. They have good circulation but no run yet. They like to stand up on the window sills which are only covered with hardware cloth. It is pretty warm in there but its the coolest part of the property, on the north side in the shade.

I love my cochins and brahmas. Right now they are out in their coop panting away and making me worry. The sex links and EEs are panting too so it is not just them.
