    Goslings of 2015 Hatch-a-Long

Yeah, I've told my daughter not to run from them but she did anyway and now they know she is afraid. One bit her on the leg the other day and he is lucky he is still alive. My husband is not fond of animals that hurt our daughter. Just gotta make it through breeding season or hope someone buys...

American buff. They are proving to like to scare my little one a bit too much during breeding season.

I finally got eggs and my female is currently sitting on a nest of 7 eggs. I'm hoping some of them hatch. Unfortunately, it seems we have 4 males to our 1 female, so gonna have to rehome some males.

We finally have a nest! So excited! Although, I think of the 5 geese we got last year 4 were males. Unless one of the females acts like a male. Ah well. I'm happy I at least have one female and we are finally getting eggs. I'm trying to decide if I'll leave them and let her sit or try my hand at...

    Goslings of 2015 Hatch-a-Long

So, I found a goose egg last week and was quite excited, but I haven't found another one since. They have a house and straw and hay and other things to build a nest with and they haven't done anything with it. The lone egg I found was out in the middle of the pen. I keep hoping I'll find more...

Well, I got my first egg! I'm pretty excited. It is a disgusting muddy mess though, so I'm probably going to crack it and see if it is fertile. Is it normal for them to start laying in random spots before building a nest? These guys are young, a year in April, so I don't expect them to really...

I *might* have my first egg. Not sure and going to have to wait until tomorrow as it is pouring and I didn't feel like trapsing around the pen in the pouring rain and mud. I was laid in a weird spot, just kinda randomly on the ground, so who knows. I'm hoping it really is an egg though.

Yes, that is how we chose which we thought were male and female. :) I will try and get pictures. Not easy currently with the mud and puddles everywhere. And the rain. Ha.

Still no eggs or nest making here. Not even sure if there is breeding. We separated the flock the other day, as I have 5 and we believe 3 are males. So we put a trio in a separate pen and they weren't too excited about it. Just hoping we really did put two females and a male together.

Still nothing happening here. We've had snow out the wazoo lately, but last night was supposed to be the last really cold night if the year. We are headed into the 50s next week so I'm crossing my fingers something starts to happen. Ready for some duck and hopefully geese eggs soon!

We have three...a pair of mutes and a male Australian. His mate died in October and we haven't found him a new one yet. We are undecided if we are going to get another or try and find him a new home. I haven't seen the YouTube video, but will have to look it up. I will have to post pictures...

We are in Ohio, so it might be a bit before things really get going, but my muscovys are already mating. Yeah, our swans at least, are fine with everything we have on the pond, which is a lot of ducks and geese. Our experience so far has been that they are only aggressive towards other swans...

    Goslings of 2015 Hatch-a-Long

Wow, I never would have thought they would be so aggressive even when they didn't have young. We have swans, and the only time they bother with other babies is during the spring, while mating and sitting on eggs. Good thing I've figured out ways to separate everything out when we have little...

    Goslings of 2015 Hatch-a-Long

Hi! New to posting here but have lurked often. I have American buff geese and am hoping they give me some eggs this year. They are only 10 months or so, so I know they won't be that successful, but I'm hoping for a few babies this year. They should start laying soon if they are going to right...
