    Decrowing Roosters.

Skink, I am the proud owner of 2 altered roos. I did purchase them post surgery they were not my "prized pets" I was trying to save. They enable me to hatch new hens for my small farm flock, supply me with a few males for processing, and protect my flock. As I live on a 3 acre lot in a...

I finally heard Whitey crow. It was very quiet. I was afraid it might have real volume since he can still chirp/cackle( my first roo can't) but it was subdued.I actually thought it was Daryl until I saw him do it. Very pleased with the results.

Ask Dr James. But I would keep with what you are doing and give him peace and quiet so he can rest. They are tuff but checking on them alot can cause more stress.

I agree with Miquwid. It was the best investment I've made for my flock. Check Dr James prices list I think he has some less expensive listings.

Well here is an update on my blue splash bantam Daryl. He is right at a year old now and has matured nicely. He has the greatest tail. When it is all swept back it almost touches the ground. I might be a little prejudiced but I think he's gorgeous, Next week we will be setting a batch of eggs and...

    Decrowing Roosters.

Today I am sending a polish roo to "the farm in the country". Without this operation my little Daryl would be joining him on this one way trip. Daryl is well adjusted after surgery and will hopefully enjoy a full long life. The polish will not. How much simpler does it have to be said, this...

One of my nieghbors told me last week I can keep my birds as long as I don't get a roo. Daryl has been here since June.lol. What he doesn't know won't hurt me. As far as fitting 18 into a 4x4 coop. It there were a lot of ramps/shelves on the walls but it wasnt pretty.

No not from a commercial farm just some lady. 18 birds in 4x4 coop, no run, with poor feed. I took 7 but didn't have room for the rest. The same day I got 3 from an old man who turns them out at age 2 to fend for themselves because they don't lay anymore. They've been with me a little over a...
