Simons Family Chickens in Pasco has some serama, polish and silkie crosses. She occasionally has seramas, but I don't think she's seen much demand for them.

Simons Family Chickens on Facebook is in the TriCities hatches quite a few chicks. I think she has some olive eggers right now and will have black copper marans in a few weeks. Found a recent ad: http://kpr.craigslist.org/grd/5388451440.html The closest hatchery I know of is Dunlap in...

Nope. I am working it through the BBB and my bank now. I believe his website is shut down now as well. The good news is that my bank has refunded my money (pending the investigation) and is resolving it through the VISA merchant system.

I'll definitely post an update. :) I'm really glad I had an existing coop that I was replacing. If I was trying to figure out where to keep chicks that had grown out, I would be panicked. P.S. Cute newt!

As far as I've read, they can live to around 6 to 7 years, or longer. I've had the same thoughts on how to maintain egg numbers within the flock. And egg production can depend a lot on the breed. I have a marans that is 3 and lays 4-5 eggs almost every week during the summer. But I haven't...

Hi! I placed an order with amishsytlechickencoops.com in May and haven't received it yet. They seller has not been very communicative, and claims that the window is on back order. The last time I talked to him he said it should be ready on September 14th. I'm cautiously waiting and praying...

I think sometimes they have "accidents" like toddlers while potty training. I've found eggs in strange spots when a hen starts laying. It almost seems to have taken them by surprise. Hehehe

@IAMADOL They can be really sneaky. If you have either time to watch them until they lay or kids that can follow them around. I don't let mine free-range until I get home from work because I don't trust my dogs. My neighbor does though and often has to have the kids stalk the chickens until she...

Excellent. If you have any trouble getting approved (it took them a while to approve my request), let me know and I can friend you then add you. I would absolutely be interested in your hatch if I didn't already have waaaay too many pullets right now. Hehe. (The back of my mind is trying...

Hi all, My neighbor and I have a few older hens that we'd like to give away. My black australorp, 3 or 4 years old, and her two 2.5 year old red stars. I'm not sure if the australorp still lays eggs, and only one of the red stars lays occasionally. They're still great for bug control or even...

@Serj , If you're in a neighborhood you shouldn't have many problems. In general, the area has coyotes, racoons, skunks, and hawks. My neighbor lost a few birds to a hawk a couple of winters ago and we live in a residential area. We haven't had any other problems. I do know some other...

Congrats! Does your incubator have a fan? I have one of those styrofoam incubators and didn't have much success with it until I added a fan and increased my humidity. I recently hatched some local eggs and had an 80% hatch rate, which is pretty great! Before that my hatch rate was 30%. What...

Ack! I hate wasps. We've never had much luck with traps, but the sprays work good! Good luck!

I'd recommend starting by searching craigslist. Are you looking for a particular kind of pheasant? Eggs, chicks, adults?
