I have a lot of Marraduna Basque (Euskal Oiloa) eggs coming in, and my incubator is staying pretty full. I am in Central Texas. I am willing to ship eggs for $20/dozen plus shipping..

For hens, what about a few black speckles on their backs? I don't see that mentioned in the standard.

Thanks for the picture! Well, I guess a few of mine look like that (feathering), but I was thinking they should be lighter. Most of my breeders are lighter. I am also having some paler yellow legs, though. Their legs are not white like Orpingtons, but not as nice and yellow like your photo. I...

Some of my pullets have been a bit dark-colored lately, with definite barring. This is not standard is it?

A little over half of my hatched cockerels are pretty light colored, too (little of the brown-gold color), and some have white shanks. I haven't kept any of those. I wish I knew if any particular hen is to blame!

Linda, I got my original breeding pair from a man in Belton/Salado area, about 45 minutes east of here. At the time, I was looking for some Coronation Sussex chickens and he had a pair advertised. When I went there to see them, he had this Basque pair as well, and those were the only chickens...

Good luck on your egg/vegetable/bread project. It is so easy to amass a large quantity of chickens, isn't it? I have about 250, including juveniles. (That is a lot of feeding, watering, and cleaning!) Our farm used to be far outside the city limits, but now there is a subdivision, across the...

I was thinking "boy", too, because of the size of the comb. My pullets don't seem to get their combs this early.

I personally think the Mille Fleur coloring is very pretty, but I am not breeding those that I get out of my hatches. If I had more space, I might consider trying to breed them as a separate project, though, and maybe someday they could be a recognized color.
