I´ve tried a couple of times to see the video of Hobart, but no joy...I don´t know if that means he´s already moved away. Or maybe some other reason. anyway, sounds good. there´s someone on theser threads with a young pilgrim gosling with leg issues, too. There´s just something special about...
We sold all our stuff when we moved here, so we bought everything new, which was expensive, so I had to learn to use it a bit quick! Actually, what I learned was to call my son! He has the x-box all connected up to the DVD player, and once in ablue moon when I want to watch a DVD, I can´t use...
What´s a VCR? (kidding...well, partly!)...when I was young I had an instamatic Kodak camera. Technology, eh?
p.s. Hobart had a little sore place under his wing.
I think the thing about their feathers insulating them from heat is more of a curious possibility than anything sound. I would imagine. Mine always look for the shade and the water in the heat. Even in the winter it gets hot during the day, and there they are, in the shade. Baby anythings...
Good point, in that the down of the goose protects them both ways? Well, that makes sense in a way.
Mine do pant, though, when the temps get up to mid-30s and above, but they do have a pond and stream to get into, and the trees make super shade.
I wonder if it makes a difference, too, if the...
Hahaha, ok. Well, I don´t know what the weather´s like, and people keep their birds in all different settings, so....
It seems you´re doing great. Just to let you know how geese can cope with the heat, last year one of my geese was determined to sit on an empty nest (winter-time, of course) in...
Goodness, you´re doing so much for him, now you have the neighbours involved! What a nice bunch of folks you all are.
Here the temperatures get quite high in the summer, and the geese go under the shade of the trees, which is noticeably cooler. He´s in a shed, isn´t he? Is it a lot hotter in...
Saw him this time! He doesn´t know whether to nibble at the bandages on his foot or on his wing! Well wrapped. Vickers, you´re clearly doing all you can to help him. How rewarding.
Very pertinent points, as always, chooks. I was thinking a similar thing, but with slightly fewer words.. I was thinking that, even though Vickers feels so upset about it all, she´s actually helping this poor little feller more than anyone so far, and he´ll be so much better for it...
Well, this that you say does make sense, in that to help something to grow back new skin it´s good to keep it damp. Is this what your aunt is trying to do? We had to do the same with a dog once. Sometimes we have to keep it dry, sometimes to keep it wet.....
So is it just the spraying water...
Good idea to keep him contained. Well, you´ve gone all out to help him. i love his huge mirror. Poor little chap. Looking forward to seeing it all healed up. Ah, I see his wing. Looks like Angel wing. You could wrap it, you know, by tucking it under where it should go, and just wrapping...
