I use Stall Dry as well, in fact more often now that Sweet PDZ, as it has diatomaceous earth in it, which helps control mites in the coop. Both work the same way on the poop board...keeping smells down, and making scooping easy. I also use the Stall Dry mixed with some fireplace ash and dirt...

Hi BeachGirls26...So they poop all day, here and there, but the majority of their poop is under their roost...so the poop board helps to manage that. If I can recommend one thing in your coop...it's having a poop board. It makes clean up a breeze, and keeps the smell minimal. Also, I bed my...

Sorry for the delay in responding, we were away on vacation. Do you still need the information? I'm happy to go out and measure if you do. :)

My run was initially grass when it was first built. Sadly, as you know by now, it doesn't last long. After it became just dirt, I added sand to the top, just a couple of inches. I did it to help control the mud, and just keep it neater and easier to rake/clean out. I sprinkle food grade...

Thank you so much for your kind words. :) Here's the outside...I wrote a story about our coop building experience last year. We had a great time with it. It's a children's playhouse kit, in the design of an old school house, that we converted to a coop, to which we added an enclosed run. Hence...

Actually, I do both. My coop is 8x8 with an additional 12x12 attached run. I have 9 chickens living in it. I do deep litter (pine shavings) on the floor, but sweet PDZ on the poop board. Typically chickens do most of their pooping when roosting. So by using a poop board with sweet PDZ to...

Stall dry is the same premise (safe, controls odors and absorbtion), but different ingredients. Stall dry uses food grade diatomaceous earth. Sweet PDZ doesn't. Stall dry is safe for chickens, and when I first had my coop I used it on my poop board (I have horses so had it on hand.) I have...

This entire thread is about the implementation of Sweet PDZ as it relates to poop boards. There is great info and lots of ideas, I would start at the beginning of the thread (the first post), where Spoiled chicken first talks about it. It will give you the answers you're seeking. :)

We have 9 chickens (1 year old hens) and they all perch on a single 7.5 foot natural branch we have mounted above a poop board. Our coop is 8 x 8.

Thank you for your kind works. I'm changing mine to one long perch that will span the width of the coop within the couple of weeks. Now that they are bigger, they still all try to squeeze on the top perch, but only 6 can fit up there...so three take "second banana position" below. I'm going...

Thank you so much Donna. :) I just got an email 15 minutes ago from the BYC project manager saying they were featuring my coop on the home page this week (the Schoop.) It's really a full circle because it was Trish (TheSpoiledChicken) that led me to the company that we used...after reading...
