Aright, thanks. Yeah, I thought of plucking so that I could roast it, but it was 30* and raining when I did the processing, and I was ready to be finished! I'm probably going to stew him and make duck gumbo with andouille sausage. How old were yours when you processed them? Mine was older, but I...
So anyone else ever process one of their swedes? I just finished processing an extra Swedish duck that I had. He was 8 months old and I was pleasantly surprised by how meaty he was! Due to him being old though, I just skinned him. Any cooking tips? thinking a pot of gumbo!
Unless they have curly feathers, you can't tell from pictures ( the beak color thing is only accurate part of the time)
Drakes are quiet and raspy in their voice, ducks are very loud and make a distinct QUACK
Anyone want a black tufted Swedish Drake???? I only have two ducks, and he's the extra drake, so he needs to go. I live in north Georgia if anyone is interested!
Has anyone noticed a size difference between Swedish drakes and ducks? I have three swedes. And two are petite and one is huge. One small one is already quacking, but the other isn't at 6 weeks. Could it still be a girl?
I get to join this thread!!!
I bought today my first 4 ducklings, and two are definitely swedish, one black and one blue, and the other? He's blue with the white chest, but has a small tuft of fluff on his head. Can swedish ducks be crested?
