(I wish people would spell things right in their specialty! Just checked the Fayetteville site for a quick look see, and they spelled "cockerel" wrong and "Wheaten." This doesn't mean they're not good--I just have such a pet peeve about that kind of stuff! Kind of like the people that own...

Jerry Foley seems to be the name everyone mentions in terms of breeders.

YAY!!! Picked up my first SLW's today! Only been waiting years for these chickens (they were the chickens I actually sort of thought were cool before I even admitted I liked chickens). They're from Bill Guardhouse in Ontario, Canada. Picked them up at the Northeast Poultry Congress today. Fun...

SLWs are one of the few breeds that I'm being really picky about where I get them from. I have an incubator, have a brooder, or have a small coop to house a trio. Where would you get some really good SLWs from? Is Jerry Foley the only one? My chickens are mainly just a fun hobby, but I would...

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I am looking for big, fluffy, breeder-quality chicks or eggs near Albany, NY. Have had wonderful success hatching my own eggs, so would be fine doing that. Any leads? The fatter and fluffier and more defined lacing, the better!! Sarah

Where did you get show-quality Silver-Laced Wyandotte eggs from with a good hatch rate? My HovaBator 1588 is working beautifully with my barnyard mix eggs from my own backyard (94% & 97% hatch rates so far) but am scared to get eggs shipped. Anyone have good luck? Looking for fat, fluffy, and...

I have just set my first batch ever of eggs in my new incubator! These are just my own concoction (and friends!) of backyard heavy layer mixes--red-sex link, Delaware, Pioneer, etc. If all goes well, I hope to reset the incubator in 3 weeks time. Where can I get really nice SLW eggs with a...

My TSC only carries the granulated, while most people on here talk about the powder, but it's working fine. I couldn't convince hubby to build me a tray underneath the roosts to fill with the Sweet PDZ and then scoop, like most people, but the coop smells fine and it's no trouble so far with...

I've been sprinkling food grade DE and Sweet PDZ Stall Refresher under their roosts mainly, once a week and then throwing a fresh layer of wood chips on top. So far, chickens seem fine, the coop literally doesn't smell in the slightest, and I haven't seen a sign of mites or lice or other bugs...

Does sprinkling Diatomaceuous Earth on the coop bedding periodically keep lice infestations away? We've been doing this since day 1 and so far so good...what else is a preventative for nasty bugs like mites and lice?!? Bad enough I have to combat hawks....don't want to deal with creepy crawlies...

I went to Tractor Supply and got a bottle of this purple anti-pick lotion in the poultry section--it's purple, very viscous, and has a wide applicator. Two applications of it and the birds were healing fine! They were little at the time and must have been getting picked on when I wasn't...

I am only 8-weeks I to owning chickens, but am already plotting what I want for the spring (like many of my friends into plants plan their flower beds!). Where can I order Show-Quality Wyandotte day-old chicks for pick-up near upstate, NY OR shipment? Quantity doesn't matter, since I'm LOVING...
