Congratulations to all the newly arrived chicks, all the pictures are great. Ours are getting so big, almost 3 weeks old now. I am amazed at just how quickly they groww and how much I already am looking forward to getting more! Will post more picture Friday.
@KensingtonHens Yes we ordered from Cackle, but we did not order our supplies through them. We built our own brooder and got our other supplies from the local TSC. We ordered New Hampshire Reds, we were looking for a good dual purpose bird.
Just a ray of hope for you, we ordered only 5 and it was below zero the two nights following their ship date. All arrived alive and well. Here's a picture of them now.
We started off with 5 pullets that we got a couple weeks ago and we have already decided to get 7 more to make an even 12. I guess that is what is known as chicken math!!
So are they all chicks, and if so do you keep them all in the same brooder? I'm new to this and have 5 NH pullets and am considering getting about 7 more when they arrive at my local TSC. I am just not sure if I need a separate brooder for them.
Top, our new arrivals, hopefully all pullets. Middle, Our cat Dayze and our Lab Merlin inspecting the new arrivals. Bottom, Dayze again and our Jack Russell Sparky.
We live in Michigan and the weather has been below freezing during the day and in the single digits at night. We just received our order of 5 pullets today, all happy and healthy!
We placed an order with Cackle Hatchery and are expecting them the end of this week. Starting to get very nervous about the trip, it is supposed to be very cold. I hope they all survive, we ordered the 5 pullet small town special. Will update when they arrive.
So sorry for your loss. I am really concerned about our shipment, we ordered 5 NHR pullets from Cackle Hatchery. They are supposed to ship out on the 11th. Who did you order from? Will they be replacing them?
