You can use snake poop as deterrent to any rodent. You need big snake poop, like from a 4 or 5 foot boid at least.

4 inches in diameter is way too big for a rat. They can squeeze through something that's only 3/4" in diameter! And that's an adult!

Maybe the dog getting in there and spreading his scent will scare it off? Know anyone with pet snakes? That's a mighty big hole for a rat? Can you get something for scale next to it? Couldn't have picked a better breed of dog for the job, that's for sure!
