So pretty! I forgot her numbers but I think she only got 3 CHs. They are all pretty cute chipmunky chicks, except 2 darker ones from her flock. I'm excited to see them grow out. I set some of my own EE that should hatch Monday.

One of Amy's chicks that came from the Chickenstock raffle. EE I think.

My Sister-in-law who won eggs finished with 12 hatched, 1 already passed and 1 still might pass. The 10 remaining are Easter Egger, Catskill Homesteader, Welsummer, and a couple other mixes. They are adorable. The poor hatch rate was frustrating, but hopefully these 10 make it to integrate with...

It's hard to say what came first from the picture. Sorry she is having a bad time. Good luck getting her back to healthy.

My sister-in-law only had 12 hatched as of yesterday. I'm not sure what she ended up with. Her incubator had a couple temp spikes, but she isn't sure why she had such a poor hatch. She won 6 dozen at the raffle. She normally gets a 70% hatch rate with her incubator. I'll update as soon as I...

I'm happy for him! He had the respiratory attack due to my limited ventilation and his non-roosting spot. When he was under the weather he accepted baths and being carried around by my kids. He's a good boy. He got along with my other rooster just fine. I just don't have the accommodations you...

Good question. I've seen some with thinner tails and when I got him he had no tail left after being beat by the head rooster. He was not in great shape. I'm not sure how thick his tail will get. I can't find any good pictures. Maybe after a winter molt?

Girlie would be about 3 and MOJO is 1.

She may have been "with" my Ameraucana too, but that combo would be cool too. if the chicks come out yellow fluffed they might be Ameraucana x. The Brabanter chicks are brownish with goldish heads. Any pullets from the Ameraucana/Girlie cross would be blue egg layers. Here's an example from...

Girlie is unique. I think she has been in her own world apart from the flock that she lost the instinct to stick with chickens. When the littles move in she might like hanging out with them. I have four of Mojo's winter love offspring. The combination of his spangle and my legbars barring has...

Play, quarrel, run away, yes. I have chicks as young as 6 weeks and adults as old as 3. There are three separate coops. The food arrangement is the toughest part to manage. They all seem to want to eat what the others are having. I won't do it much longer, as I want to separate the Brabanters...

    New York mini chickenstock 2016

I recently let all ages mingle from their separate coops. They honestly didn't mingle much and all went home to their respective coops at the end of the day. I do have to rearrange living arrangements and will keep them penned up for the day after I move them so they don't return to the previous...

I think both disabilities were injuries not genetic, but I'm not the original owner. They were both bottom ranking birds in the original flock and I think injured as a result. So my vote is go for it! You have the ideal set up to make it work. I'll even consider getting some of their offspring...

I love that this has turned into a hatch along! I'm a hatchaholic that has decided to limit additions for the time being (unless by some twist of fate I get a broody), so the vicarious hatching is wonderful. Keep posting the updates, please. :-)

I had a great time as well, and I'm sad I had to leave early. My kids had a great time and I want to thank all of the other kids and significant others and family that joined in, too. I already look forward to the next one.

Good morning! I'm caffeinating. I'm excited to meet you all. I've processed chickens before, but I am thrilled that there will be a demonstration. Great idea.

I'm going to bring some of these too and water and soda. Basically I am bringing a cooler with everything I expect me, my SIL, and my 3 kids to drink plus lots of extras to share. My kids keep me on my toes. One day they'll barely pick at stuff and the next they'll empty my pantry. With the...

Haha. I'm to the point where I don't want to talk to non-chicken-people about chickens. The blank lack of understanding stare is reinforcing my introversion. They are kind and respectful about it, I'd rather talk about the weather if it's small talk.
