You were gone for a really long time...
First batch of Marans in the incubator!
First offspring from my Foley pair. I think they are looking really good.
The theory is that I should end up with partial laced birds from this pair (SLW x Lav) Lavender Wyandottes are made using Black Wyandottes. What I have so far is Silver Laced Columbian Wyandottes split for Lavender. One thing I'm confused about. If the Lav birds are hiding a black bird base then shouldn't the silver/gold gene be s+s+? and if that's the case shouldn't these chicks I hatched be sexlinked? Maybe these are both pullets? Shouldn't the pullets be silver and the cockerels be yellow or golden?
Dad, Mom and firstborn SLW in the background. Two project birds in the foreground for comparison.
Another comparison shot. Why does it seem like the SLW on the left has so many more feathers? Does the one on the right look like a cockerel? Maybe that's why the feathers are so different?
Are those your Davis eggs? I'm loving watching mine grow, but they won't start laying until August.
I don't know anything about project birds, but your first offspring look awesome
I'm keeping my next batch of AMs to grow out and see how my pairings are doing
