7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

She liked to hold rocks or sticks in her mouth and draw on the wall. I taught her to hold a brush and apply it to a canvas. I give her three or four colors at a time and she takes it from there. I don't make her do anything. She just really loves it.

That is so neat! They really look good! Talented horse!! Thanks for sharing!!

That's really cool! I have a friend who taught her dog shapes, and he likes to paint shapes on a canvas laying on the ground. He is so careful with his shapes. His circles are almost perfect! She holds up a picture of a shape, and he draws it however big or small he wants, and wherever he wants on the canvas. He really enjoys it.

Wow, interesting! I'd like to train a dog like that. :)

I look for the veins to have dissolved and only a blurry blob is left. As long as there are well defined veins, I leave them in. Once they get to close to lockdown, it may be hard to see veins because of so much chick making it too dark to see. At that point, unless it smells or is weeping, it stays.

Thanks - there are still some well defined veins - just not as many as the others. This one is missing the dark spot that all the others have. It doesn't smell and its not weeping. The egg shell looks a little thinner/more porous than the others.

I'll leave it in and check again later - but think it may have quit. Its easier to tell when the chicks are big...

Both of my quitters had very distinct blood rings. They'd also gone from pink/red/alive looking to yellowish/brownish/not right looking. My healthy eggs also have very visible embryos bouncing around in them.

When in doubt, leave it in

No blood rings here... I don't candle very often, so its hard to see the change - but I will look a little more frequently now. Thanks!
