I lived in Florida for 5 years. In Sarasota on the west coast. My ex-husband grew up in Inverness, which is central. Right now I'm living in NY and it's freezing here. Oh how I miss wearing flip flops year round!

I sold all the chicks that hatched! My first time selling chicks. And my 10 yr old son cried the whole way, while holding the box. It was so sad/cute. He's all heart. But I went into lockdown last night. So I'll be hatching again this weekend.

for another good hatch. How is everyone's chicks doing?

I'm just learning genetics but I have all white silkie hens and white, buff, and black cockerels and we hatched 5 black chicks and 3 partridge! No white! Interesting!
Hi RubyNala!! I have 3 white silkie hens, 1 blue silkie hen and 1 black silkie roo. Out of 20 babies that hatched, I got 2 blue, 4 black and the rest a brown/black partridge color.

I'm really curious as to what they will look like grown up!

Good luck with your hatch this weekend!

The winner of the chick born at midnight is @yummychocolate3

Prize is a 6 mo golden feather.

Congratulations!

aren't brooders suppose to be at 80 degrees?

Might be Celsius?

Brooder temp is higher... ambient temperature outside is MUCH colder... I was unsure how well the brooder outside would hold temperatures as the ambient air temp continues to drop. The temps did drop to 77, but the measured brooder temp is lower than the actual temp - the chicks did very well - the ones I have left are full of energy
