Hi all as some of you know I have two young pigeons that I asked how and what to feed them. Now I have a new problem with the youngest one. These are his symptoms: lame/paralyzed in one leg, a clicking noise when he breathes and maybe a slight loss of appetite. He also has what might be pigeon pox (though he has had this for a while - shortly after we got him; the other symptoms listed above are new as of today). Any and all help will be very welcome:).

poor baby!

Keep him warmer. The breathing noises sound serious... how are you feeding them... is it possible that some food got into his lungs?

I think you should take it to a vet for antibiotics in case its a lung infection.

It could also be some pox in his windpipe. Usually they get over the dry pox just fine.. even if they look really bad.. and there is no treatment for the pox.. as its a virus.

I don't know about the leg... I hope someone helps you with that because that has just happened to a adult pigeon of mine.. she got a digestive problem after getting bacteria from her rotten eggs under her... and now she is recovering but has lost the use of one leg and foot.. the leg is just floppy and dead.

Wishing you luck with your baby.

Sounds like paratyphoid with one or more other things.. They can get over all, a daily dose of Katee proboitic included baby parot formula, or probios etc probiotics with poultry vits n vet Rx, n keep acv in water, with heat lamp, or cage area at 90+ degrees. You could feed manna pro poultry conditioner feed, or just good old layer pellets as can assistance feed then if they get bad. Oh forgot to keep them up out of poop (theyll re infect selves otherwise), on wire grate etc n I used bricks that can easier rest them n be warmed by heat lamp recomended on cage, or small heater next to.

Thanks for the advice. I've taken him in to be checked out and I have some meds for him. He should be fine now:).

That's great news.. keeping my fingers crossed for the little guy.

My one that lost the use of one leg seems to be getting better. Before it was really weak and just lay there and could not move about or fly.

Today its flying about and hopping around.. eating and its breathing is back to normal.. but its leg is still dangling limply and its not using that leg at all.... but I can't find any breaks in it. Time will tell.....
