Looney Muscovy

There has been little discussion in the past regarding "looney" patterned muscovy.

I have taken on the project of breeding them and recording them this season since there seems to be a huge lack of pictures and documents regarding this specific muscovy patterning.

Here are some of the ones I hatched. They are from a blue barred hen covered by a dark ripple pied drake. All looked like barred as babies being solid yellow with colored tail tips.








If anyone else is interested in these or has some to share pics of please post here!

Beautiful ducks leary
 
The first Muscovy pictures that I ever saw when I joined this site a year ago really turned me off of these birds, with their lumpy red faces. But you all are forcing me to warm up to them, lol, with all these pictures of pretty birds. If I wasn't already overloaded with ducks, I might even consider adding a couple to my flock. Very pretty birdies. I really like that first one :)

That first one is my fav too.

Yes! Some of us who don't breed for show breed for less of the caruncles (red on the faces). Personally, I think it makes a much more attractive bird. Plus, I like my ducks to be able to see

The birds pictured seem to hardly have any caruncles at all. Are they young or is that how your birds look as older adults?

They are young, all this years hatch so not fully filled out yet.


This is about the extent of it for my adult drakes. And for hens, theres the head of a 3 year old hen in one of the above pics. I breed away from the heavy caruncles because I personally don't like them heavily caruncled
