Vent Prolapse but egg has membrane around it?

Noticed one of our chickens tonight with a terrible looking bottom.

She had a big glob of poop, blood and something black...took her in and soaked her in warm water with Epsom Salts and washed away as much stuff as possible...determined there is an egg, completely outside her body inside a very thick membrane. The membrane or sack is flesh colored to red to black...probably mostly blackish.

She keeps trying to push the egg out but it is already out?

We dried her and soaked again...we searched the membrane for an opening for the egg to come out and there is not one. Finally we decided to cut the membrane and get the egg out. Is the remainder her vent? It does not look anything like the pictures of a prolapsed vent? I fear we have killed her but not removing the egg would kill her as well. Please help...

Wow, it has really shrunk in the last 15 minutes when I went back to take the pictures...Hmm...should I be poking all that back up inside her?

And no, we do not have any vets that work on chickens in our area...none listed online and the 4 I called all said no.

Trying to decide if we should cull her or wait and see what happens? I can't tell if she is in pain or not? Not like a dog, cat, horse where you can tell.

I plan to provide no food for next 24 hours and only water with nutri-drench. Trying to decide if I should poke that protrusion back in, apply witch hazel, antibiotic cream, vegetable oil or a mixture? Grrrrrrr....

I would put some plain Neosporin or bacitracin ointment on the vent to keep it clean and to prevent it from drying out. Is it still bleeding? Tomorrow and each day, I would soak her bottom in a warm shallow bath using chlorhexidene or betadine and water. Her vent area will need to be kept clean if it was cut. If the prolapse is sticking out, it probably should be pushed in, but I do not have experience with this situation where the egg was cut out, so I'm just suggesting what I would do. Honey, sugar, and Preparation H are used to help reduce swelling. I hope she doesn't get a wound infection, and hopefully can recover. Let us know how she is doing.

Thank you all...I have no idea if that is the vent or not...I keep thinking it is possibly the lining / I guess large intestine? None of the pics online look like her bottom...it is so purple / black? No idea how long she has been this way either but I would guess 2 days although I do not see any signs the other chickens were pecking her which seems to be the norm?

We just gave her another soaking, cleaned the area with an iodine based cleaner and applied the prep H. I guess time will tell...

Edit, forgot to add we did NOT poke the protrusion back in...just does not seem like that much would fit. For scale the area sticking out is around 1.5" X 1.75"...really large. You can tell she is straining and trying to push...not sure if it is bathroom or? Poor girl.
