Sorry about your chicks.

Other than the sexes it was a good hatch.

I wouldn't use something that "solid" over the water wells, could give you humidity problems. I would also imagine the paper towels would start getting rather wet quickly.

26 Chicks in April isn't too bad. Looking forward to seeing you in the May Hatch A Long.
Thanks! I can't wait for the May hatch-a-long! I have some hatching on the 3rd already, so I'm very excited! Hopefully I will get more silkies. :) And, I have my new fertile rooster, so hopefully I will get some really nice ameraucanas soon. Thanks for the hatch-a-long! It has been so much fun!!!!!

the other four died they where pipped internally but had the whole yolk sack unasorbed

This happened to me the other day. So frustrating. Sorry.

So far nothing is happening with my 15 eggs. Day 21 started about an hour ago.  I usually have eggs hatching on day 20, so I am hopping everything is going to be ok.  I really want to open the bator & "check" but I am resisting.

On another note,I am taking the day off work on Friday to go see my Mom.  She's 79 ( 80 in July) and has been really sick since the end of March.  She's been in & out of the hospital (UTI) then allergic to the meds they put her on.  She hasn't been eating or drinking much and is doing much worse.  Prayers are appreciated!
prayers ate on the way and if I could I put one of those little hug things in but I don't know how. ((Karen)) so that's what you get. I'm very sorry about your mom.

If your temperature was a little low the chicks could take a day or two longer to hatch. I'm a little younger than your mom, but not much. We have had our health issues here too. If your mom doesn't eat or drink much has she tried any the the liquids like Boost or Ensure? I'm a diabetic so I do use Glucerna. Sometime you just don't feel like eating and drinking but need something.

That's the hug I want to send Karen. Can that be a group hug from the room? My phone won't let me do things like that.

Something is wrong with one of the chicks!?!? It is walking around with its head off to the side. It can straighten its neck but doesn't. Could it be a deficiency of some kind or maybe a nuerilogical issue?

You can always try something like B vitamins or a drop of poultry drench. I have had miracle cures for wry neck using poultry drench.

And just like that there was a duck named Waffles. Pip to duckling out of shell was about 46 hrs.
