Morning Pond!

Beautiful day in our neighborhood too! It's a balmy 8 o F but warming up quickly now that the sun actually clears all the treetops . Should get into the 40's so it's finally time to put the heavy coats away :) Still have about 18" of snow on the level and might get a fresh inch or two later in the week but most places where we've been shoveling is now clear so I don't need the cleats on my boots anymore.
Puppers got her spring shave down yesterday so she's running around like a puppy (she turns 10 soon) and rescue kitty is tearing thru the house as well, leaving a cloud of shed hair in his wake
Crack!!!!! There goes the ice on the pond!!!:weeBack to paddling!

How much do y'all have to pay for your trash service? Ours is I *think* 20 dollars a month but we have to provide our own cans and they don't take yard waste or recycling. If we want to recycle we have a place in town to drop it off ourselves.

We rent a 1 1/2 yard dumpster. It’s $43/month if they pick it up. If we don’t fill it before pickup, we call in and it’s $10 for that month’s rental. Electric runs around $100 or a little more per month for most of the year. This winter was expensive because we ran the floor heat in the basement and shop. We are on our own well, so no water bill - just the electricity to run the pump.

It still amazes me that you have that much snow still, and its still so cold. We dipped below freezing last night, but should stay above for the rest of the week. C'mon spring! Get it in gear!!

You didn’t miss a thing. I think the suggestion to deceive the neighbor was wrong.

Deception is definitely not the answer. That kid irritates the crap outta me. But if the OP has a mixed flock, I doubt they could guarantee any eggs to be infertile anyway.

I'm of the camp to just give the old man some eggs. I rehome lots of cockerels, so I finally realized I can't dictate what happens to them. I don't even ask anymore. I love getting updates from folks that hatch my eggs too, but if they sell the chicks, good for them! If they keep them and don't take care of them, I feel bad, but that's not on me.

I really love the OPs final decision
