Hello all. I'm getting four bourbon red turkey poults tomorrow and I'm overjoyed! I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with these birds and if anybody could share their experience. I hear that they're very sweet birds with great personality. Do they go broody? Are they good mothers? Any info on these birds would be much appreciated.
 
Good for you! You'll enjoy them. They are super sweet. Turkeys can bond strongly with people. There are quite a few of us with Bourbons. Post pictures when you get them. Most of us hang out on the Century of Turkey Talk thread, and we love pictures.
 
Will do. They are straight run so I'm not sure what I will get. If there aren't enough hens, will toms abuse them like roosters will or are they a little more gentle men like with their ladies?
 
I only have hens. As pets. Hop in your lap & take a nap pets! Just didn't want to deal with a tom. There can be issues with too many tom's & not enough hens. And yes, your hens will go broody. Post pictures over on the other thread & we'll help figure out what you have.
