I recently posted an ad on CL for 7 baby silkie roosters. I got a text message from someone who stated he would take all the roosters I had. This seems odd to me. Can anyone tell me if I should be suspicious or is this normal.

Oh My! Im going to remove my ad now! Thank you. I have all these beautiful baby silkie roosters that I just love and they only crow a few times in the morning then they are quiet all day. Im just really worried for my Hens, I only have 4.

Either they are going tobeat them or resell them. Folks dont fight silkies
Or they have a pet reptile who needs to eat.

Boy it just gets worse. My ad is down, I think I will be getting up at 0400 to entertain rooster with fresh corn so they won't crow. Better it the hay right now. Thank you again for opening my eyes. I would be heart broken if anyone hurt them. you are funny and kind.

Good luck finding homes for your roosters, we have four mixed breeds that are in need of re-homing as well. Hopefully my two silkie chicks are girls!

Try contacting a 4H Leader in your area, they may have some kid that needs a "project", they raise & keep records of development. IF you do relist on CL, you really need to go by gut feeling. I've rehomed on CL, refused home until I was comfortable with rehome. It's very rare that anyone wants Roos. You should also post ads at the feed store and pet stores, it's a gamble.

I don't know that it's "suspicious". They likely do want them for eating, though... I don't think of that as something bad. You do have way too many cockerels for 4 hens, though. If you plan on keeping them, is there a way you can build a bachelor pen for them? How did you acquire so many cockerels? Hatching them out or buying straight run?
