Best dual purpose breeds

Thread Starter
Hi, might have to restart my duck flock.
What are the best breeds that have decent meat (size-wise) and are tasty, as well as good foragers, and good layers?
Looking for meat, but also decent egg production- anywhere from 150+ with no artificial lights.
Broodiness doesn't matter as I will incubate or get a Muscovy hen for them, to hatch their eggs out.

I think the Appleyard, Orpington, or Saxony might suit you best. They all lay well, can be used for meat, and are good foragers.

In northern areas like Canada, they might lay less than the norm without artificial lights.

My happy, beloved little Muscovy flock: Captain, King, BB (Big Boy), Creamy, Daphne, Lilac, Moon, Meg, Ivy, Gracie, Whisper, Star, Hope, Lucky, Sweet Pea, Joy, Snow, Skylar, Misty, Kiwi Jr., Coffee, Peaches, Amiga, Chippy, and Cola.
