I also try breed to my marans to the french standard also, and it's really causes me a lot a grief trying to work with other breeders in the states because i don't necessarily agree with how they are being bred.I told you I don t know what they call for in other SOP .
if I ll look into them all I ll be confused .far I m concern the French SOP is the one I work with .they are French chooks and bred by French ,even I disagree with a lot of them .
if you showing in the USA ,make sense to breed to the USA SOP .
I don t breed to show .I m trying to breed true marans that all .

If you feel like a road trip, I'm in Montana and I am NPIP so you can get birds to Washington. I just hatched about 25, but I've only got black silver and blue silver and a few recessive whites. I have not tried shipping yet, but I live next to I-90 so it's not a hard road trip or somewhere unreachable. My blues are pretty dark compared to what I am seeing here, but this is my second year breeding blues and last year I was moving.I have not had much luck with shipping of egg to Wa, state. The last time 44 of awesomely packed Marans eggs I got 5 to hatch. That is where my Blue Silver Cuckoo hen came from. I am getting a started Black Copper Cockerel. I think will be a good one in about a month.

Well, I really didn't have any other choice. One Cockerel ended up with so much white in his tail. I definitely didn't want to use him. The other one is so mean and he just didn't get the size. So much smaller than the other two. I would have posted pictures of them but he is so mean I couldn't get a good picture of them. I tried! This was the best I could get. He had me pinned. ATTACH!!! Lol I think they are going soon.

I have two things to celebrate. No more mean rooster! My oldest son to the rescue. Plus the darkest egg I have ever had and it came from my Blue Birchen pen.

I thought I would post a updated picture of this guy. I think this guy ended up the best out of the three. What do you all think of him? This one has changed so much. I added some pictures of his two gals also. There is a third Blue Copper hen but she is the one that injured her leg.
