Is anyone locking down for Avian flu?

:( I'm really starting to panic! Settle is only 30 mins away from me....
I know it's easier said than done but try not to panic, just be extra vigilant and alert. As long as your birds have zero contact with wild birds and you have good biosecurity (which I'm sure you do) you can take comfort in that you're doing all you can.

It dominates half of my garden ha ha so may need to move it - might even ask next door if I can use their garden-it's huge and they don't do anything with it ha ha.

Would also like to ask them can my girls chomp on thier grass when the lock down is over.:yiipchick
Good idea :) I can't wait until my hens can free range on grass again.

Thanks for looking!

It's so sad those birds have to be culled because of this flu. I hope they find a cure or something.

I'm furious about this extension although I knew DEFRA aka the poultry police would pull this stunt-control freaks trying to tell us what to do in our own back garden. They've already said indoor birds can get it anyway so just what is the point in this stupid rule. I think my birds would rather risk dying of bird flu and be outside than bored to death shut up. I think I would too. Wild birds are everywhere so we'll be ordered to keep our birds shut up indefinitely whilst DEFRA relishes their power over so many people. Why are there still outbreaks all over the country if everyone has been following these dumb rules and all birds have been kept indoors? Because nothing can stop these birds getting it indoors or outdoors if they are unlucky. Well another 2 months of misery (though we know it'll be more) thanks DEFRA.
I know, it's so frustrating but hopefully what they're doing will contain it.
