Thank you Annabella... I have always been too much of a softy...I give each of my ducks a big hug and kiss when I am handing them over to new owners... BUt I know for veraious reasons...I cant keep them all.

I am absolutely hopeless with remembering when I put eggs into the incubator- I started making a habit of writting it on the calander...But since the page was still on May- I hadnt realised I have ducklings due on Monday!! I was looking at the eggs thinking that the air cell was too big for eggs with a week to go..But no..They are right on track and in position to start hatching... So here I go again. Hope things turn out better this time.

It's interesting as I read your post - air sacks, hatching etc - how little I know about what you are saying

I so look forward to learning the longer I hang around and read.

But I can understand the love aspect. My DH always jokes that he would come back as one of my pets if he had the choice.

He says they are dreadfully spoilt and loved (as if he does it tough himself!)

Look forward to hearing about the new babies.

Although I have raised ducks and geese for 25 years- I have only been incubatiing the eggs myself since August last year. I guess in that time I have hatched maybe 80 duckling- a handful of chickens and quail as well...But I still think I have a lot to learn. There are so many things that can effect a growing embryo- the fact that any hatch is a miracle I think... And to think what they have to go through to fight their way out of the eggs...

Annabella- you will learn so much from a site like this- I know I have. I tend to do a lot of reading about chickens lately- I really dont know much about them and what to increase my knowledge. Made some great friends as well.

3 new babies to join my growing flock hatched today!! I think 2 Cinnamons and 1 Harlequin Indian Runner...They are so sweet- and one has the biggest feet.... Photos soon when they are all fluffed up and out of the brooder.

I have just been so busy with them all..I have hardly had time for photos...I just bought a new memory card as I had filled the other one- and cant delete a single one- all such cute duckie pics... I will put some up tomorrow night..The oldest babies are getting some very nice feathers coming through - and the little ones are just so sweet..

Hi Ash - another person from Brissie and new to chooks too.
I love my chooks heaps, though I think the few eggs I get from them probably cost me much more than if I bought from a shop.
But its about the birds not necessarily the eggs!!
