You have me down for a pair in the fall, right?

Oh, and that's awesome, Dirty Blonde! Can't wait to see pictures of them - now we have at least two flocks of Columbians in Wisconsin! There has to be at least one more, because I keep seeing Columbian Cochin chicks at all the swaps I've been to this year. The markings aren't great on them (well, they're not even good), but at least they're around!

First I want to say everyone has such BEAUTIFUL cochins!

I just got my first silver laced cochin yesterday. I saw the parents and they were pretty ruff, the lady said they were all molting. I couldn't tell really how they look since they were just a mess. I still picked one of the babies (hoping for a pullet) and went home just hoping for the best. I have never owned a cochin before so I am still reasearching and they just sound so great. I just love the huge round fluff balls that a bunch of you here have.

Here is mine: I guess she is abotu a week old. How do you think the feathering on the feet are...is that what it is supposed to look like. I have been clicking through tons of pics of cochin chicks trying to look at there feet.

The feathers look like of skimpy. Look at the middle toe she has one feather at the end.

With momma and the other two chicks I picked (the hen is a GLW not the real mom, just a happy broody now that she has chicks)

Just wanted to throw this out there. I posted this one the BSA but got no bites so thought I would post it here.

I'm looking for White Cochins. Both bantam & standard. If anyone can help me with that, please PM me. Thanks!

Hi NewChickMom! Congrats on your first Cochin! If the hen pictured is the mother, then I'd say you have a Golden Laced, and not a Silver Laced. But she (the hen) doesn't look like pure Cochin to me - the comb, for one, should be a single comb. We can't see the hen's feet, so I'm not sure how feathered they are. You should see full feathering on the chick, including on the middle toes.
This is a pic of a couple of Golden Laced Bantam Cochins that I hatched out a few of weeks ago. The pic was taken when they were just one-two days old. They both have nice, full foot feathering (IMHO). You can see pics of the sire and dam on My Pages.

Sorry I should have explained that better. The momma is a GLW that was broody and I got her chicks. The cochin is one of the chicks that I picked up from a lady. So the hen with chicks isn't there real mother, just a very happy broody now.

Very CUTE chicks. I think they have nice full feathering (untrained eye) They do make mine look very skimpy, will they get more feathers in or is what they have a chicks basically what they will have full grown.

I have a little Mottled Cochin cockerel right now who hatched with skimpy foot fuzz just like that. He only has a few feathers on his toes now. He has a sibling that hatched with an abundance of fuzz on his toes, and now he has a beautiful abundance of feathers (well, he would if I could keep him from breaking all of them

) so I'm not sure what happened.

I'm trying to find a home for him too, if any of you are in Wisconsin and want him.

the chick on the left looks like it is missing its outter toe, or that it is webbed to its middle toe

Just a not-so-good pic - they're all there.
