OK, my son just started a new job....working in a pallet makeing place. As we all know...those pallets are made of....PINE..and he talked to his boss...said I can have ALL the pine shaveings I want, for FREE!!! WOW! I cant believe it! Im taking the truck in there this weekend, for my first load.
My son also gets me 2ft x 3 ft panels...sorta like paneling...very thin...pine...and clean. No stains, oils, or grease. I see a new coop in the future...with NICE WALLS! Woohoo! I feel like we just won the lottery...chicken lottery that is!

Oh, we get plenty free pallets....and free pine crates.

Some of the crates measure 4 ft x 6ft and about 4 ft deep! We collected several of them to make another coop, (12x14) and a turkey house(6x6) All together, less than $200.00 for both(roofing) Now to get the free shaveings!?? I am in HEAVEN! We are saveing more crates now...to make ANOTHER coop....14x20. Hopefully I can score more cheap roofing!
My son is also getting us sheets of wood, measures about 2 ft x 4 ft. Not sure what they are...pine..thin...like panneling.?? They come from the pallet factory where he works. They were going to throw them away!! We plan on useing them to finish the insides of the coops...after insulation. Then, IF we get enough..a wood shed, for the firewood. Next summer projects.
